IT Home reported on July 26 that as the Indian government announced a reduction in import tariffs on mobile phones from 20% to 15%, Apple also lowered the prices of its iPhone series phones in the Indian market, but they are still much higher than prices in the United States, China and other markets.

Among them, the price of Apple's iPhone 13, 14 and 15 series models dropped by 3,000 rupees (IT Home Note: currently about 259 yuan), while the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max dropped by up to 6,000 rupees, a price reduction of about 3~4%.

This price cut marks the first time that Apple's current generation of Pro models have been reduced in price in India, but they are still very, very expensive. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro is 129,800 rupees (currently about 11,206 yuan) and the Pro Max is 154,000 rupees (currently about 13,296 yuan).

Data shows that iPhone shipments in India will increase by 39% year-on-year to 9.2 million units in 2023, making it the fifth largest iPhone market. Morgan Stanley said that India's iPhone business is larger than any independent country in the European Union.

As India gradually becomes one of Apple's important overseas markets, the company is continuously expanding its investment in India. According to Morgan Stanley data, Apple's revenue in India in 2023 will increase by 42% year-on-year to US$8.7 billion (currently about RMB 62.952 billion).

India's Economic Times reported that while iPhone prices are falling, Apple's largest contract manufacturing partner Foxconn has also begun exploring the possibility of assembling iPads at its Tamil Nadu factory and is currently in talks with the Indian government. This marks Foxconn India's improved position in Apple's contract manufacturing industry and reflects the company's confidence in India's growing supply chain capabilities.
