IT Home reported on July 27 that Apple re-released the iOS/iPadOS 18 Beta 4 update to developers today, with the internal version number upgraded from 22A5316j to 22A5316k.It is not clear yet what the differences are between the two Beta 4 updates

Registered developers can select the beta by opening the Settings app, going to the Software Update section, tapping the Beta Updates option, and then switching on the iOS 18 / iPadOS 18 Developer Beta setting. An Apple ID associated with a developer account is required to download and install the beta.

IT Home reported on July 24 that the iOS/iPadOS 18 Beta 4 update mainly brings the following improvements:

Carplay Wallpaper

Apple has added wallpapers to CarPlay, covering both light and dark modes, with wallpapers in a style similar to the iPhone.

set up

Apple has added a new way to access iCloud settings in the Settings app. Users will now have iCloud options alongside the App Store, Game Center, and Wallet.

iCloud settings can still be accessed by clicking on a user's Apple account and selecting iCloud from that screen.

Camera Control

In the Camera section of the Settings app, there’s a new “Control Menu” option under “Preserve settings.”

When you expand the Control Menu, it retains the previously used camera tools, rather than displaying the full list of camera control options when using the Camera app.

Hide Folders

Apple has changed the design of the hidden folder in the App Library. Now, instead of showing an eye icon, it shows a blank app square, making it less conspicuous.

Dark/Light Mode Icons

After users enable the "Automatic" setting under Customization, the light and dark modes on the icons will sync with the iPhone's system color settings.

Stock Icons

Apple has adjusted the design of the stock app icons: the lines are softer and there is no longer a white mist at the bottom of the icons.

iPhone Mirroring

This is a feature of macOS 15 Sequoia, not iOS 18, but when using the iPhone mirroring feature in macOS Sequoia Beta 4, users can change the size of the iPhone window on the Mac display.

control center

A new Bluetooth toggle button has been added to the Control Center, but it is not yet available. Apple has also added a silent mode/silent switch and an accessible eye mirroring option.

iOS 18 Beta 4 also removes the "Open Music Control Center" option.

AssistiveTouch

AssistiveTouch adds Type to Siri and Apple Watch mirroring options.

Apple Intelligence

There are multiple references to Apple Intelligence features in the code, indicating that Apple is preparing to launch more Apple Intelligence features.
