On July 24, a 21-year-old man in Chongming District, Shanghai, drowned in the waters under the Nanheng Canal Bridge. Jimu News reporters learned from the local village committee that the man was the only child in the family and drowned while trying to save his father.

On July 25, Jimu News learned from the government of Chenjia Town, Chongming District, Shanghai that on July 24, a young man drowned in the waters under the Nanheng Canal Bridge while trying to save his father. The drowned man was 21 years old and was from Baqi Village in the town.

Staff from the local fire rescue station who participated in the rescue told Jimu News that the son had indeed drowned.

A staff member of the Baqi Village Committee told reporters that on the evening of the 24th, the father and son were playing near the waters under the Nanheng Canal Bridge when the father fell into the water and the son drowned while trying to rescue him. The drowned man was the only son in the family and his family is currently holding a funeral.
