Economic Observer reporter Li Wei'aoFrom July 19 to 23, 2024, several local sources from Sichuan told the Economic Observer reporter that Chen Gang, then general manager of the Central and Western regions of China Resources Land Limited (01109.HK, referred to as "China Resources Land"), has recently been investigated by the police for suspected violent assault on female subordinates.

On July 23, the Economic Observer reporter also contacted the victim of Chen Gang's alleged assault. She told the Economic Observer reporter that Chen Gang had violently assaulted her on July 17, 2024, and she called the police on the same day. The public security department then dispatched police and took Chen Gang away.

The lady also said that she has not been in good condition since the incident.

Chen Gang has worked in China Resources Land for many years and has served as General Manager of Changchun City in Northeast Region, General Manager of Northeast Region, and General Manager of East China Region. After 2018, he participated in many public activities as Vice President of China Resources Land and General Manager of East China Region.

In April 2020, "China Business Daily" disclosed that when Chen Gang was in charge of the East China region of China Resources Land, he had been involved in a "bid-rigging scandal" with China Overseas Land & Investment, Vanke, etc., and was once taken away by the Shanghai police for investigation.

After the "bid-rigging scandal", Chen Gang resigned as general manager of China Resources Land's East China region. Around 2021, he was transferred to China Resources Land's West China region, based in Chengdu, and participated in many public events as vice president of China Resources Land and general manager of the West China region.

However, the Economic Observer reporter looked through all the announcements, annual reports and other materials of China Resources Land from the beginning of 2018 to July 23, 2024, and did not see Chen Gang among the "senior management" disclosed by China Resources Land.

In 2024, China Resources Land will adjust its internal structure and merge its seven regions across the country into five regions, including the cancellation of the Central China Region, and the transfer of the former Central China Region Wuhan Company and Changsha Company to the management of the West China Region, renamed the Central and Western Region. The regional headquarters will be located in Chengdu, and it will include five major city companies including Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Wuhan and Changsha.

Chen Gang was appointed as the general manager of China Resources Land's Central and Western regions.
