The Jiaozuo ship of the 46th Chinese Navy escort taskforce arrived in St. Petersburg, Russia on the 22nd to participate in the upcoming Russian Navy Day celebrations. On the morning of the 23rd local time, the Jiaozuo ship sailed into the Neva River in St. Petersburg and was warmly welcomed by the Russian people and local Chinese.

CGTN reporter Xu Hongbo:I am now on the Neva River in St. Petersburg, Russia. Behind me is the Chinese Navy Type 052D guided missile destroyer Jiaozuo. On July 28 local time, the Jiaozuo will participate in the water parade with Russian naval ships. This is the first time in five years that the Chinese Navy has sent a warship to participate in the Russian Navy Day celebrations.

At about 10 a.m. local time on the 23rd, the Jiaozuo ship slowly arrived at the "Lieutenant Schmidt" riverside pier in St. Petersburg. The naval officers and soldiers lined up neatly and waved to the welcoming crowd. The Russian military band played music on the spot and held a welcoming ceremony. Russian military representatives, local people, staff of the Chinese Consulate General in St. Petersburg, representatives of Chinese-funded institutions and overseas Chinese waved the national flags of China and Russia to welcome them at the pier.

according toReporterIt is understood that the Jiaozuo ship is expected to stay in St. Petersburg for nearly a week and will be open to Russian people for visits.The ship will participate in the general rehearsal of the Russian Navy Day parade on the 25th and will officially appear in the parade on the 28th.
