According to Reuters on July 22, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Sersky said on the 22nd:Russian troops are launching a fierce offensive to try to advance towards Pokrovsk, a logistics hub in eastern Ukraine, with heavy fighting taking place across the entire front.

Nearly 29 months into the conflict, Ukraine has stepped up mobilization to address manpower shortages and received artillery reinforcements from the West, but Russian troops continue to advance.

"The enemy, not noticing their considerable losses, continues to advance towards Pokrovsk," Serskiy reportedly said in a statement from Ukraine's eastern front.

According to public battlefield intelligence maps, Pokrovsk is less than 25 kilometers away from the Russian-occupied area and is located at the intersection of a highway and a railway, making it an important logistics point for the Ukrainian army.

"Active combat operations of varying intensity are underway across the theater," Serski said, noting that Russian forces were also trying to capture islands in the flood plain near the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson.
