Hangzhou, July 23 (China News Service) (Xi Jinyan and Wang Yunqing) "This car is really cool. It has many interesting functions on the screen and the design is very trendy." Recently in the exhibition hall of a new energy vehicle company in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, Sofia, a college student from Chicago, USA, felt the "coolness" of China's new energy vehicles up close.

This summer, Sofia and 20 college students from the United States came to Zhejiang to start the Youth Journey - 2024 Sino-US College Students Cross-Cultural Exchange Tour. It is reported that this exchange activity will end on July 26, and will also visit Jinhua, Quzhou and other places for field trips.

What Sofia is most looking forward to during this trip to China is experiencing the Chinese new energy vehicles with "cool" technologies in YouTube videos. Zhejiang's new energy vehicles have developed well in recent years, and last year's new energy vehicle production exceeded 600,000 for the first time. In the Geely Holding Group exhibition hall, everyone chose the models they were interested in and took a test ride.

"The experience I just had feels novel. It is obvious that these cars have more comprehensive functions and more comfortable space. I really hope there will be more cars like this in my country," said Sofia Lin Cesarone, a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Justin Jay Shrenger from the American ICN TV Network believes that China's new energy vehicles are showing strong competitiveness, and the United States needs to compete fairly with Chinese products in this field. "Competition is like exercising. When I exercise, I feel very tired and don't like it, but the result is that I gain a lot of muscles. So we should look at the development of China's new energy vehicle industry positively and rationally."

Beatrice de Salles, a member of the tour group, said: "Many Americans don't know that China has such good new energy vehicles. It's a pity that they haven't experienced them."

On the same day, the American youth also visited the live e-commerce in Hangzhou. As a student majoring in film production, Jaime Algeria is very interested in self-media. As a TikTok blogger, he once did a live broadcast selling turkey noodles. After seeing the operation of the Hangzhou live broadcast room up close, he said he was impressed and learned a lot.

On the evening of the event, these American college students spontaneously organized a live broadcast in China. The atmosphere in the live broadcast room was lively and interactive. "The live broadcast room here requires a whole team to collaborate, but my live broadcast is just shot by myself with a tripod. This form of live broadcast is not common in the United States. The equipment and personnel on site are very professional." Jaime Algeria said that everything he felt here was also very inspiring for his filmmaking studies. (End)
