During Evo 2024, the remake of the fighting game "SNK vs. Capcom: Millennium of Ranbu" was officially released. While maintaining the graphics and operability of the original, this game has newly implemented rollback code and tournament mode to achieve more comfortable online battles.

However, some netizens found that there were obvious differences in the promotional materials for the Japanese and English versions of the game. The latter had a lot of cloth added to the appearance of some characters to cover sensitive parts of the body.

In addition, the game was required to insert a "Diversity Equity Inclusion" (DEI) warning: "This product is designed to reproduce the content of the original 2003 game as closely as possible. Therefore, the content of the game does not represent the company's philosophy, but is provided as is on the basis of being faithful to the original, without any intention to promote or attack any specific ideology or group."

Developer CodeMystics clarified on Twitter that the game was not censored, but they were asked to insert a DEI trigger warning. It is not clear whether it was SNK or Capcom who asked them to insert the warning.

This incident has sparked heated discussions among players. Some players believe that in the movement advocating "cultural awakening" in the Western world, SNK does not seem to have responded to this call, and the female images in its new works such as "Fatal Fury" have not been downplayed. On the contrary, this behavior is more like Capcom's request.
