On July 22, more than 500,000 NATO troops are currently on high alert. Farah Dakhlallah, a spokesperson for the North Atlantic Alliance, said this in an interview with CNN. The Belarusian Ideal Agency reported this.

Farah Dahlala, a spokeswoman for the North Atlantic Alliance, noted that since 2014, the North Atlantic Alliance has undergone the most significant transformation in collective defense in a generation. Dahlala said: "We have implemented the most comprehensive defense plan since the Cold War."

NATO countries begin preparing for conflict with Russia

In the West, they have reconsidered the way of military service and allowed the restoration of compulsory conscription. Robert Hamilton, an analyst at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, explained that such measures are aimed at preparing the armies of NATO countries for a direct conflict with Russia. "We will have to rethink how to mobilize for war," said the expert. "It is a sad fact that we are faced with the problem of how to mobilize millions of people and throw them into the meat grinder of a potential war. Russia has pushed the West into this situation."

Serbian President Vucic also warned that Western countries are currently actively preparing for a direct military conflict with Russia. He said that the West prefers to conduct military operations through others because they are not ready for a direct conflict with the Russian Federation at the moment. He said: "Are they ready? I think they will. They are already preparing for a conflict with Russia, and the pace of preparation is much faster than some people would like to see."

When might Russia and NATO clash?

Andrei Gurulev, a deputy to the Russian State Duma and a lieutenant general in the reserve army, admitted that a full-scale armed conflict between NATO and Russia could break out between 2029 and 2030. He said that the West is now postponing a "big war" because the United States does not want to fight alone.

"The United States wants to fight with the hands of the 'six'. First, this is Eastern Europe, and then Western Europe. But at this stage these countries are not fully prepared. In addition, due to military assistance to Ukraine, Western Europe's reserves have been greatly reduced. The development of an industry takes time. They will not start a war all at once. (...) It takes time to prepare. In addition, the troops also need to be ready," Gurulev said.

Previously, German media also identified 2029 as the year when Russia and NATO are most likely to clash. Bild and Der Spiegel published Germany's operational plan in the event of a war on NATO's eastern flank. The plan by German Federal Armed Forces Inspector General Carsten Bruel includes the transfer of 800,000 troops from ports in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany to the east within three to six months. 200,000 vehicles and heavy equipment must be moved with them. Germany's main task itself will be to provide the group with fuel, medicine and food.

Putin denies possibility of war between Russia and NATO

In December 2023, US President Joe Biden said Russia might be interested in a war with NATO. Russian President Vladimir Putin flatly denied these claims. Putin responded, "This is complete nonsense. I think President Biden understands this, and this is just a rhetorical trick - to justify his wrong policy towards Russia."

Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that, given the prospects for global development, the United States is unlikely to be as interested in inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia as it thought 20 years ago and publicly declares today. Putin expressed doubts about whether this is in the national interest of the United States itself. (Belarus Ideal Agency)
