Recently, the multimodal parallel network results jointly created by Henan Unicom and Songshan Laboratory were officially released at the 2024 Songshan Lundao Cloud Network Intelligent Innovation Forum and the 3rd Intelligent Network Technology Innovation Conference.


Multimodal network is an original theory proposed by Academician Wu Jiangxing, Director of Songshan Laboratory. It adopts the idea of ​​"separating network system from supporting environment" and realizes the dynamic deployment and coexistence of multiple network technology systems in the same network environment in the form of "generative network". This theory solves the contradiction between the unity of infrastructure and the diversity of network capabilities, the rigidity of existing network structure, and the defects of single IP bearer, and realizes the leap from "service will adapt to the network" to "network adapts to service on demand".

The Henan Unicom multimodal parallel network achievement officially released at this conference is the industry's first multimodal innovative network environment facility for live network applications, and is also the key first step in the national "Overall Technology and Construction of Multimodal Network Innovation Environment" innovative research project jointly carried out by China Unicom Group and Songshan Laboratory. This achievement will continue to achieve interconnection and interoperability in six environmental sites across the country, and continue to carry out comparative verification of typical applications in the live network.

Since Henan Unicom and Songshan Laboratory started cooperating, the two sides have fully communicated and worked closely together to jointly study the overall architecture, key technologies, and core systems, actively build a multimodal network innovation environment, and achieved good results in multimodal parallel network experiments, ensuring the seamless switching of existing network modes for real broadband users, and guiding a new path for the network innovation and development of telecom operators.
