I don't know who Zelensky wants to meet in the future? Biden is certainly an old friend who he often meets. What about Putin? What about Trump?

According to Cankao Xiaoxi and other media citing AFP reports, former US President and Republican US presidential candidate Trump had a phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky.

During the July 19 phone call, "Trump promised Zelensky that if he returned to the White House, he would "end the 'war' between Ukraine and Russia."

It has to be said that this pre-announced call became more eye-catching because Trump was officially nominated as the party's presidential candidate at the Republican National Convention and because he was shot and temporarily became "one-eared".

Those who believe that Trump will be elected believe that the call between Trump and Zelensky is nothing more than telling Zelensky that the trajectory of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict will follow his model. After he re-enters the White House, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict must end within 24 hours.

What Trump told Zelensky on the phone seemed to be a rehash of the same old story. He told him that once he came to power, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine would end soon.

From the public media reports, it is not clear what Trump said to Zelensky, and how much Zelensky believes in Trump's ability.

Before the call with Trump, Zelensky had stated:

“I hope that if the American people elect President Trump, his policy toward Ukraine will not change.”

When Trump was president of the United States, things like the United States withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement seemed certain. But when Biden took office as president of the United States, everything went in the opposite direction.

So, how can we be sure that Trump will implement the same policy as Biden on the Russia-Ukraine conflict after taking office? The pendulum effect is there! It is impossible!

Even Trump said that once he takes office, he will end the Russia-Ukraine conflict within 24 hours. If Trump and Biden are implementing the same policy on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, why doesn't President Biden try to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict as soon as possible? Why does he keep saying that he will support Ukraine in its long-term fight against Russia?

If this doesn’t prove that Trump and Biden’s policies may be opposite, then what does it mean?

We clearly saw Trump say in the first round of televised debates for the 2024 US presidential election: "As far as Russia and Ukraine are concerned, if we had a real president, a president respected by Putin, then he would never 'invade' Ukraine."

Under such circumstances, isn't it wishful thinking for Zelensky to publicly expect Trump to implement the same policy toward Russia and Ukraine as Biden?

Of course, Zelensky must have said this. He is just trying to stabilize the domestic situation!

You know, the various disharmonious factors in Ukraine caused by the Russia-Ukraine conflict actually pose a considerable threat to the stability of Zelensky's regime.

On July 11, Eminina Zapalova, Ukraine's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna and former first deputy foreign minister, submitted her resignation after her billionaire husband Gennady Bogolyubov was exposed for a scandal abroad. The so-called scandal was that Bogolyubov presented a fake passport when traveling from Ukraine to Poland, which made people suspect that he wanted to evade military service.

Ordinary people must be sent to the army. After more than two years of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, even the elderly and disabled in Ukraine have been conscripted. They must carry guns and go to the front line! In this situation, how should Zelensky clean up the mess?

Biden has repeatedly urged the US Congress to continue to provide funds to Ukraine, and recently allowed Kiev to use US-made weapons to fight Russia. But for Trump, who likes to settle accounts, how can he tolerate corruption in Ukraine? Someone does not regard US aid funds as money?

"I thank President Zelensky for contacting me because as your next president of the United States, I will bring peace to the world and end this war that has claimed countless lives and destroyed countless innocent families." This is what Trump said after talking to Zelensky. It sounds like he is flattering Zelensky and praising him, but in fact it is also an unambiguous notification, equivalent to an "open letter". His expectations and attitude towards ending the Russian-Ukrainian conflict have not changed. The right to interpret all the exchanges between him and Zelensky lies with Trump, not Zelensky.

It seems that Trump is quite wary of Zelensky.

Looking back at 2019, not long after Zelensky took office as President of Ukraine, then-US President Trump visited Kiev. At that time, when the two presidents and first ladies were taking photos together, Zelensky did something funny:

He even stood forward on purpose, so that he seemed to be slightly bigger.

Compared to the tall and strong Donald Trump, Zelensky, who is less than 1.7 meters tall, has to rack his brains to "make up the gap".

Even height is so fussy, let alone international relations. And how could Trump, who is particularly good at haggling over every penny, let Zelensky take advantage of him for nothing?

It is false to say that Zelensky is not afraid of Trump being re-elected as US President!

Before his call with Trump, Zelensky publicly admitted that his positive interaction with Trump was before Russia launched its "special military operation" against Ukraine, and that the election had placed a heavy burden on Ukrainians, Russian leaders and others.

"Right now, everyone is waiting for November. The Americans are waiting for November. In Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific, the whole world is watching November," Zelensky said. "And, really, Putin is waiting for November."

He also said action must be taken now to resist Russia. "Now is the time to step out of the shadows and make a strong decision to act, rather than waiting until November."

In other words, when it became clear that Trump's chances of winning the US presidential election were increasing, Zelensky was also thinking about it. He recently revealed that he hoped Russia would also attend the second Ukrainian Peace Summit. This attitude change was a 180-degree change. It was equivalent to welcoming Russian President Putin to attend the Ukrainian Peace Summit to some extent.

After learning of Zelensky's call with Trump, Putin said, "You know, as a (US) presidential candidate, Mr. Trump said that he is ready and wants to stop the war in Ukraine, and we take this seriously. Of course, I don't know what proposals he might put forward on how to do this."

This answer is really well-measured, even accurate to the millimeter!

It is not difficult to see from this that Putin is by no means a reckless man!

In his new presidency, Putin not only visited China, North Korea, and Vietnam, but also received visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Moscow. We may not be able to guess what Putin thinks of Zelensky's call with Trump, but the possibility of another meeting with Trump in the future must be something he has anticipated and prepared for.
