At around 2:30 am on July 20, a flash flood disaster occurred in Xinhua Village, Malie Township, Hanyuan County, Ya'an, Sichuan Province due to heavy rain, and communications, roads and bridges were interrupted.Preliminary investigation showed that the disaster caused more than 30 people to lose contact.

That afternoon, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters sent a working group to the scene to guide rescue operations. In response to the severe rainstorm and flood disaster in Sichuan, the National Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Relief Committee launched a national level 3 disaster relief emergency response.

  • Preliminary investigations showed that more than 30 people were missing due to the disaster. After full-scale search and rescue, as of 22:00 on the 20th, 8 bodies of the victims were found, and the identities of 5 victims have been confirmed. 412 threatened people have been safely evacuated. 12 injured people have been admitted and are currently in stable condition.


  • On the 20th, a total of 23 teams, more than 1,000 rescue personnel, and more than 1,500 pieces of equipment were coordinated to rush to the scene, and fully carried out tasks such as search and rescue of missing persons, verification of personnel in key areas, and transfer of disaster-stricken people.
  • Ya'an City urgently allocated 500 tents, 3,500 quilts, 3,500 folding beds, 40 emergency lights and 10 site lighting.At present, communications and transportation in the disaster area have been basically restored, and electricity is gradually being restored. Emergency rescue work is still in progress.
