Sanaa: According to a report from Masirah TV controlled by the Yemeni Houthi armed forces on the 20th, the port of the Yemeni Red Sea city of Hodeidah was attacked by Israeli fighter jets that day, which has caused at least 80 people injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the airstrike caused a huge explosion and fire in the port area of Hodeidah, an important port city in northwestern Yemen currently controlled by the Houthi armed forces.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea issued a statement after the attack on Hodeidah, saying that the targets of the Israeli attack included power plants, oil tanks and other civilian facilities in the port area, which was a "brutal aggression" against Yemen. The Houthis will "not hesitate" to attack important targets in Israel, and Tel Aviv and other places will "no longer be safe."
The Israel Defense Forces issued a statement on the evening of the 20th saying that Israeli Air Force fighter jets launched air strikes on Houthi military targets in the Hodeidah region of Yemen that day in retaliation for the "hundreds of attacks" suffered by Israel in recent months.
The central Israeli city of Tel Aviv was attacked by a drone launched by Houthi armed forces in the early morning of the 19th, killing one person and injuring 10. Israeli Defense Minister Galant said on the 19th that he would retaliate against the attack on Tel Aviv.
Since the outbreak of a new round of Israeli-Palestinian conflict on October 7 last year, the Houthi armed forces in Yemen have repeatedly used missiles and drones to attack the southern Israeli port city of Eilat, and attacked merchant ships related to Israel in the Red Sea and other waters. This airstrike is the first attack launched by Israel on Yemen since this round of Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
