——Game Testing

In terms of gaming experience, the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition brings the D1 chip for independent graphics cards for violent gaming, which, combined with the Dimensity 9300+, applies the self-developed AI super visual engine to the game for the first time, and then uses technologies such as super-resolution and interpolation to bring players a full-blooded gaming experience.

At the same time, with the Rage Engine 3.0 Xiaomi's self-developed performance scheduling strategy, the deep integration of software and hardware can dynamically adjust the output between the SoC and the discrete graphics card.

1. Honor of Kings

In Honor of Kings, we changed the frame rate to very high and the resolution to ultra high, so that the overall picture quality is extreme.

During the 10-minute game, the frame rate curve of the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition was as stable as a straight line, and finally gave a full frame score of 120.29 FPS.

The average power consumption during gaming was 2.96W, with an energy efficiency ratio of 40.7 FPS/W.

The maximum temperature in the area where the chip is located is 34.5℃, which feels relatively cool and ensures long-term stress-free gaming.

2. Genshin Impact

In "Genshin Impact", we will choose the preset image quality to be extremely high, and on this basis change the game frame rate to 60 frames.

During the test, in the main city of Fontaine, use characters that can move quickly, such as Ye Lan and Zao You, to run around randomly for 15 minutes.

In this round of testing, we will test "Genshin Impact" in two modes: native picture quality and ultra-high picture quality.

Native quality:

Under native picture quality, the rendering resolution of the "Genshin Impact" game is 864P.

The frame rate curve of "Genshin Impact" is very stable, with an average frame rate of 59.17 FPS.

During the game, the average power consumption was 5.2W and the frame energy consumption was 15.22 FPS/W.

The maximum temperature of the chip area of the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition reached 41.7℃.

Compared with the normal 45℃ performance of other performance mobile phones, the temperature of Redmi K70 Extreme Edition is about 5℃ lower with the support of the latest generation of 3D ice-cycle cold pump.

Super quality:

With the support of the Crazy Gaming Independent Graphics D1 chip and the activation of super picture quality + extreme resolution, it can effectively reduce the SOC load while improving the game picture quality and frame rate.

Under ultra-high quality, the game rendering resolution reaches 1.5K, which puts more pressure than the native quality (864P).

The left is the native image quality, and the right is the super image quality + extreme resolution, which enlarges the same picture 4 times. The latter is superior in clarity.

Next, we conducted a real test on "Genshin Impact" to check the performance and temperature of the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition in super picture quality + extreme resolution mode.

With the support of the Crazy Gaming independent graphics card D1 chip, you only need to render 40 frames (the software cannot capture the actual output frame rate of the mobile phone), and the rest of the generation work is left to this independent graphics chip, thus achieving a 120-frame picture output effect.

This approach is actually similar to the DLSS 3.5 frame generation technology of the RTX 40 series graphics cards. However, the interpolation solution generally causes screen tearing and touch delay problems when moving at high speeds, but this phenomenon did not occur in the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition experience.

The power consumption reached 5.95W, which is 0.65W higher than the native picture quality.

The maximum temperature in the area where the chip is located is 42.8°C, which is only 1°C different from the original image quality.

IV. Image performance: The main camera IMX908 has been significantly improved and has reached the level of an imaging phone

The rear camera specification of the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition is a 50-megapixel main camera, supplemented by a conventional 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and 2-megapixel macro lens, forming a three-camera solution.

It is worth noting that the main camera it is equipped with is a Sony IMX906 SLR-level CMOS, a 1/1.56-inch photosensitive unit, and supports dual native ISO DAG HDR and OIS optical image stabilization.

This Sony IMX906 is rare and is only used in a few imaging/portrait phones. The Redmi K70 Extreme Edition is the first to be equipped with it on a performance phone. Next, let's take a look at its imaging performance.

In daytime scenes, the Sony IMX906 main camera can produce sample photos relatively easily, which can be regarded as the mainstream performance of imaging phones.

The resolution and color performance are commendable, the light and shadow details are also preserved, and the style is quite textured. It is hard to imagine that this is the experience you would have on a performance phone.

The style of the picture in the night scene is also pleasing to the eye, the purity and noise control are quite excellent, and the tolerance is also significantly improved compared to before.

During the photo-taking process, there is no need to wait for multiple frames to be generated. It is quite easy to take a photo with just a snap.

However, when facing scenes with complex lighting, it is easy to have problems with highlights being unable to be suppressed, such as roadside signs, so it is recommended to avoid such environments as much as possible when taking pictures.

But when faced with soft night scenes, such as spotlights on the wall and lamp posts on the roadside, it can capture enough details, allowing high-performance mobile phones to take good-looking pictures of night scenes.

5. Charging and battery life: 120W only takes half an hour to fully charge and can provide up to 11.3 hours of battery life

The Redmi K70 Extreme Edition uses a combination of 120W fast charging + 5500mAh large battery, and is equipped with the same self-developed fast charging chip Pengpai P2 and power management chip Pengpai G1 as Xiaomi 14 Ultra. With the support of dual cores, it has a large battery and high-power fast charging capabilities, while also providing the phone with long-lasting and stable battery life.

Combined with Xiaomi's own Starfish algorithm, it can delay battery aging, so that after 1,000 cycles, the battery life can be maintained at more than 90%.

Next, let’s take a look at the charging and battery life performance of the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition.

——Charging test

Before the charging test, we changed the wired charging mode to "Extreme Speed" to ensure that the phone can obtain the highest charging power output.

The charging test started from 5% power. It took 10 minutes to charge to 53% power, 20 minutes to charge to 83% power, and half an hour to charge to full power.

——Battery life test

For battery life, we use a professional battery life testing tool - Battery Dog produced by Fast Technology for testing.

In the test items, we chose the extreme power endurance test and checked all the test items including CPU high voltage, CPU multi-threading, AI recognition, image browsing, video playback, and web browsing to simulate user usage scenarios, restore the real load to the greatest extent, and get as close as possible to the actual power consumption.

During the test, in order to keep the environmental variables of all model tests consistent and ensure the accuracy of the test results, Battery Dog will automatically adjust the screen brightness to 50%, turn off automatic brightness, and adjust the volume to 30%.

From full power to 20% remaining power, Battery Dog gave the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition a battery life of 9 hours and 3 minutes.

In other words, it can provide 11.3 hours of battery life when fully charged, which can easily cope with the user's heavy usage needs throughout the day.

6. Conclusion: Self-developed products further release a flagship with fast enough performance

Xiaomi's R&D capabilities are quite impressive. In addition to the 1.5K screen co-developed with the joint supply chain, it also has its own fast charging chip Pengpai P2, power management chip Pengpai G1, and the professional imaging chip ISP Pengpai C1 previously used in MIX FOLD and the Pengpai S1 chip of Xiaomi 5C. Now, the D1 chip, a dedicated graphics card for violent gaming, has been added to the lineup.

Although the road to research and development is not smooth, it also shows Xiaomi's ambition in the field of self-developed chips. Through various means, the software and hardware ecosystems are integrated, the core technology is firmly in their own hands, and research and development is flexible, so as to bring better experience to users. For example, Xiaomi upgraded MIUI to HyperOS, which is also based on this concept.

The D1 chip, a dedicated graphics card for rage gaming, is paired with a dual-core Dimensity 9300+, and has been tuned to bring "Genshin Impact" super-resolution 1.5K resolution + super-frame 120 FPS super picture quality. The power consumption and temperature are also very well controlled, which makes the combination of Redmi + Dimensity processor no longer inferior.

Previously, when we experienced the super picture quality of Redmi K70 Pro, we had to use the back clip radiator to turn it on.sexAmong all mobile phones, the only one that can turn on the image quality and frame rate simultaneously and does not require a radiator is the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition.

This also proves that the cooperation between Xiaomi and MediaTek, coupled with the integration of resources of self-developed chips, makes the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition truly unique in tuning.

In addition to performance, the improvement in imaging is also very commendable. Although this is not the focus of the upgrade of the performance flagship phone, after upgrading the main camera to the same IMX906 sensor as the imaging phone, the shooting capability has also been significantly improved. It can easily produce pictures even when facing night scenes, reaching a level comparable to mainstream imaging phones.

The battery capacity has been increased to 5500mAh, and with 120W fast charging, the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition can quickly recover in just half an hour, providing a total battery life of up to 11.3 hours, which is at least 2 hours more screen-on time than the previous generation.

Judging from the above experience, the performance level is achieved through cooperation with MediaTek, and the fast charging and battery management are also supported by self-developed chips. While bringing powerful gaming capabilities to the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition, the power consumption control performance is also quite eye-catching. The overall performance is indeed worthy of the title of "Supreme Edition".
