According to Fast Technology on July 18, today, the analysis agency Canalys released a report stating that in the second quarter of 2024, due to various factors such as low seasonal demand and extreme weather in some regions, India's smartphone market increased slightly by 1%, with total shipments reaching 36.4 million units.

According to the report, Xiaomi regained the top spot after six quarters with 6.7 million units shipped and 18% market share.

Canalys analysts said shipments this quarter were driven by the Redmi Note 13 Pro series and Xiaomi Mi 14 Civi in updated colors.

It is understood that in June this year, Xiaomi launched Xiaomi 14 Civi in the Indian market, with a starting price of 42,999 rupees (approximately 3,732 yuan).

Although it is a new name, the Xiaomi 14 Civi is essentially the Xiaomi Civi4 Pro previously released in China.

The ranking shows that vivo followed closely behind, with shipments also reaching 6.7 million units in the second quarter, mainly thanks to affordable 5G and mid-range models.

Samsung ranked third with 6.1 million units shipped, while realme and OPPO (excluding OnePlus) rounded out the top five with 4.3 million and 4.2 million units shipped, respectively.

Canalys pointed out that vivo's success in the mid-range market is mainly due to the V series and Y200 Pro, which focus on exquisite design and camera functions, and have increased promotion efforts through LFR retail stores.

Canalys’ latest consumer research shows that 44% of consumers expect to purchase a device in the next 12 months, with the vast majority of these being “upgrade buyers” who are focused on the latest innovations, including 5G technology.

Canalys expects overall shipments to grow by mid-single digits during the upcoming holiday season.
