TechInsights: Samsung leads Latin America smartphone market for 51 consecutive quarters

IT Home reported on July 18 that according to the latest research from TechInsights Wireless Smartphone Strategies (WSS), smartphone shipments in Latin America grew strongly in Q1 2024 (specific data not released), an increase of 21% year-on-year.

IT Home attaches the specific rankings as follows:

  • Samsung has a 30% market share, down 8% year-on-year;

  • Lenovo-Motorola 16% market share, unchanged year-on-year;

  • Xiaomi has a 15% market share, a year-on-year increase of 46%;

  • Apple has a 12% market share, a year-on-year increase of 2%;

  • Transsion Group (Itel, Infinix and Tecno) had a 9% market share, a year-on-year increase of 209%.

The report shows,Samsung has led in shipments for the past 51 quarters, thanks to Samsung's diversified product portfolio of Galaxy A and S series in different price ranges. However, Samsung was the only supplier among the top five to experience a decline (down 8% year-on-year), which the report said was due to the emergence and growth of more Chinese suppliers in the region, providing consumers with more purchasing options.

TechInsights listed: Xiaomi grew by 46% year-on-year, Honor grew by 520% ​​year-on-year, realme grew by as much as 700% year-on-year, OPPO Group grew by 59% year-on-year, Huawei grew by 100% year-on-year, and Transsion Group grew by 209% year-on-year.
