Reference News reported on July 18According to the Hong Kong South China Morning Post website on July 16, a group of heavyweight American corporate executives will travel to Beijing next week, hoping to meet with Chinese officials to gain a deeper understanding of the situation in person, according to people familiar with the matter.
The visit will be coordinated by the Washington-based U.S.-China Business Council, and the executives will be led by Craig Allen, president of the U.S.-China Business Council, and Raj Subramaniam, CEO of FedEx.
According to reports, the executives of the companies visiting China are from Goldman Sachs, Starbucks, Honeywell, UnitedHealth, Nike and Qualcomm, all of which have a large business in China. A source said: "The delegation hopes to meet with senior Chinese officials."
The report pointed out that despite the United States' attempts to "decouple" from China in recent years, the U.S.-China Business Council still has frequent contacts with China. The council is expected to hold its annual important event, the China Operations Conference, in Beijing on July 26. This closed-door event will mainly discuss topics related to China's macroeconomics and business environment.
"From an economic perspective, it's very important for the U.S. and China to maintain a good relationship," said Dan Diggle, president of Minnesota-based speaker designer and manufacturer Misco. "For our company, we are still very dependent on products made in China."
