IT Home reported on July 18 that netizen Igor_kavinski posted on the Anandtech forum yesterday (July 17) and shared the CinebenchR23 running score data of the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X processor. At 160W power consumption, its performance is comparable to Intel's top-level 14900KS processor.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X Processor Overview

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X “100-000001277” tested this time is the flagship processor of the series, equipped with two Zen 5 CCDs and one IOD.

The processor is equipped with 16 cores, 32 threads, a base clock frequency of 4.3 GHz, an acceleration clock frequency of up to 5.7 GHz, 80 MB cache (64 MB L3 + 16 MB L2), and a TDP of 170W.

In terms of clock frequency, although the acceleration clock frequency is the same as the Ryzen 9 7950X, the base clock frequency is slightly reduced by 200 MHz.

testing platform

The processor in this test was in ES (engineering sample) and was tested after manual adjustment (PBO+CO was turned on) using the Cinebench R23 tool.

Test Results:

IT Home attaches the test results as follows:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (230W) - 46,090 (100%) / 5477.0 MHz (Peak) 60.5C

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (200W) - 44,782 (97.1%) / 5227.0 MHz (Peak) 54.6C

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (160W) - 42,336 (91.8%) / 5206.4 MHz (Peak) 47.9C

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (120W) - 36,478 (79.1%) / 4190.1 MHz (Peak) 43.5C

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (100W) - 33,373 (72.4%) / 3821.8 MHz (Peak) 40.5C

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (80W) - 29,430 (63.8%) / 3340.1 MHz (Peak) 41.0C

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (60W) - 23,985 (52.0%) / 2687.8 MHz (Peak) 39.5C

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (40W) - 12,424 (26.9%) / 1401.7 MHz (Peak) 34.8C

According to the test results, the performance of AMD Ryzen 9 9950X "Zen 5" desktop CPU exceeds 7950X3D at 120W and 160W (42336 points) is comparable to the Intel Core i9-14900KS at Extreme (42678 points)。

The comparison with the i9-14900KS is the most prominent, because the 14900KS tested power consumption in extreme conditions exceeded 300W, which is almost twice the 160W PPT power consumption, and the 9950X tested is not a retail chip.

In addition, the performance of the Ryzen 9 9950X under liquid nitrogen and other cooling and configurations is as follows:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (LN2) - 53557 (127.7%)

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (Curve Shaper) - 45303 (108.0%)

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (PBO + EXPO) - 43905 (104.7%)

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (Stock) - 41924 (100%)
