According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll completed on the 16th, after the assassination attempt on former US President Trump,Americans are worried that "the country is spinning out of control" and are increasingly concerned that the November 5 election may trigger more political violence.

The poll found that Republican presidential candidate Trump has a slight advantage among registered voters, with 43% support to Democratic President Biden's 41%. This margin is within the poll's 3 percentage point error margin, indicating that Trump's assassination did not trigger a major shift in voter sentiment.

The online survey of 1,202 adults, including 992 registered voters, found that 80% of voters (with similar percentages among Democrats and Republicans) disagreed with the statement that the country is spinning out of control.Express agreement.

In the poll, about 84% of voters said they were worried that extremists would commit violence after the election, and only 5% of respondents said they could accept that someone from a political party would commit violence to achieve political goals. About 67% of respondents were worried about violence against the community because of political beliefs. Most people from both parties said they were worried that Americans might resort to violence instead of uniting to peacefully resolve their differences.

Biden team to resume political advertising

According to Reuters on the 17th, two people familiar with the matter said that US President Biden's 2024 presidential campaign team will resume running political advertisements this week. Previously, these advertisements were suspended due to the assassination of Trump.

With Biden still trying to make up for a poor debate performance last month, several senior Democratic campaign aides worry that a prolonged pause in campaign advertising could further hurt Biden and other Democrats' chances of running for office in the Nov. 5 election.

The Republican campaign has been going on intensively. Two days after Trump injured his ear, he attended the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

“The campaign and the (Democratic National Committee) are going to continue to contrast (Biden) with Trump,” said a senior campaign official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Reuters reported that the Biden campaign declined to comment.
