Honor, which continues to focus on "AI + folding screen", is moving towards the goal of "breaking Apple's monopoly". According to the first quarter report of market research firm Canalys, Honor has achieved significant growth in the high-end mobile phone market, with a year-on-year increase of 91% in global market share, ranking among the top five in the global high-end mobile phone market for the first time, and becoming the two leading Chinese brands together with Huawei.

"Many experiences of Honor's foldable screen have reached or even surpassed those of Apple's iPhone Pro Max. We look forward to Apple developing unique foldable screen products, and we are willing to compete more directly with Apple on foldable screens. In terms of notebooks, we can achieve better performance and specifications than Apple, but they are thinner and lighter. Honor's AI services are much deeper and earlier than Apple's thinking and layout of its core capabilities in this area," said Zhao Ming.

Solve the industry problem of making foldable screens thinner and stronger

Currently, one of the disadvantages of foldable screen phones is their fragility. Since the screen needs to be folded and unfolded frequently, it may cause wear, scratches, or even breakage. In addition, foldable screen phones are too thick and heavy, and not easy to carry, which also affects their further popularity.

"Foldable screen mobile phones have made great progress, but for quite a long time, they will not be able to surpass candy-bar phones in terms of flagship phones. This is because today's users have several pain points when using foldable screens. One is thickness, two is weight, and three is reliability. It is these three factors that lead to the fact that a considerable proportion of users today still use candy-bar phones." Zhao Ming analyzed.

From the first folding screen Honor Magic V which weighs 14.3mm in closed state, to the lightest folding screen Magic Vs which weighs only 261g, from the Magic V2 which weighs 9.9mm and leads the folding screen into the "millimeter era", to the Magic Vs2 which weighs 229g and refreshes the record of thinness and lightness of large-screen folding phones... This time, Honor Magic V3 broke the 9.9mm thin record that Magic V2 had maintained for 12 months. While setting a new record for the thickness of a large folding screen phone, Honor Magic V3 has also made breakthroughs in bending performance and durability. In comparison, the current common practice of mobile phone manufacturers is to miniaturize the existing large models and then implement them on mobile phones. As early as three years ago, Honor proposed the route of using AI to enable operating systems and developing platform-level AI. In January this year, Honor MagicOS 8.0, based on the platform-level AI core, was released to create human-computer interaction based on intent recognition. Its signature feature, Anydoor, can enable services to be directly accessed across applications and devices in one step based on intent recognition.

At this press conference,Honor has also implemented its AI innovation on the edge - AI defocus eye protection technology, on Magic V3, realizing the reconstruction of hardware with AI.

This technology was first launched by Honor and Tongren Hospital. It uses AI to enable the screen, simulate the effect of a defocus lens, and promote choroidal thickening. According to experimental data, watching for 25 minutes can reduce the transient myopia index by an average of 13 degrees, effectively relieving visual fatigue and preventing myopia.



The Honor tablet MagicPad 2, released together with Magic V3, also enables spatial audio through end-side AI, combining leading speaker hardware with head audio and video APP to bring users an immersive audio-visual entertainment experience.

Many manufacturers have the third-party cloud-side large model capabilities, and we also cooperate with Internet companies such as Baidu's Wenxin Yiyan. Honor MagicBook Art 14 was also unveiled at the conference. As the first product in the Art series and Honor's first high-end ultra-thin AI PC product, MagicBook Art 14 is the first to apply the Luban architecture used in folding phones to PCs. Through mortise and tenon design, heterogeneous batteries, and cicada-wing ultra-thin VC, the whole machine is 19% thinner, and aerospace-grade ultra-light materials such as magnesium alloy body, titanium alloy keyboard, and diamond aluminum fan are used to reduce the weight of the body by 30%, achieving an ultra-thin body that is about 1cm thin and as light as 1.03kg.

In office scenarios, YOYO Assistant and Super Workbench provide functions such as arbitrary search, arbitrary question, and smart interconnection, enabling intelligent search of videos, pictures, and documents, as well as cross-device transfer of files between Honor phones, tablets, and PCs.

Zhao Ming said that Honor's laptops will definitely not only utilize the capabilities of Microsoft and Intel, but must also incorporate the design and considerations of Honor's own core platform: "In terms of AI PC, Honor also focuses on edge AI capabilities. OS Turbo technology is such an edge AI capability. Local image search is also something that other companies do not have. In terms of AI, Honor must take the path of edge-cloud integration and apply this edge-cloud integration to mobile phones, tablets and laptops."
