1047 Games, the developer of Splitgate, hinted that they will announce new news on July 18. On its official Twitter account, the developer released a short personal video with the word "RHINOK" printed on the armor. The caption said: "In three days, you will be mine."

While not official, this announcement is likely for Splitgate 2. Fans may remember the Rhino armor--this is likely a variation of the same armor.

After spending a lot of time redesigning old systems and content, the developer ended support for the first generation of the game in September 2022. Instead of pursuing iterative updates, it hopes to make a sequel with "revolutionary rather than evolutionary changes" for fans.

Splitgate 2 is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and will also be a free-to-play shooter with teleportation. Splitgate 1 is still online, though it's more or less dead, with 338 concurrent players on Steam at press time.
