According to Fast Technology on July 15, China Unicom's official APP has recently launched the "Phone" applet, which is introduced as WiFi calling.

Currently, this feature has been launched on both iOS and Android, and all users can search and view it, but it is currently only available to invited users. It is expected that subsequent experience qualifications will be gradually opened up.

It is reported that WiFi calling is actually "VoWiFi" technology, the full name of which is Voice over WiFi, which can transmit voice through the WiFi network.

It allows users to make and receive calls directly through the connected WiFi signal. In other words, no matter what the signal of the mobile phone SIM card is, as long as there is WiFi, clear calls can be made.

Last year, China Telecom took the lead in launching this service, initially supporting WiFi dial-up voice and video calls in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Foshan.

In today's bustling cities with tall buildings, there is often no signal in the buildings. VoWiFi can effectively solve the voice and text message problems caused by weak coverage in residential areas.

Users can make and receive calls and send and receive text messages through their home WiFi. At the same time, since this technology is implemented by operators through more advanced technology, it is better than Internet calls such as WeChat in terms of latency, clarity, stability, etc.
