from september 2 to 13, 2024, our outstanding arbitrator representatives wang yu and zhang meiping participated in the exchange and training activities for mainland legal staff in hong kong organized by the hong kong department of justice. this event aims to implement the qingdao-hong kong legal cooperation agreement and strengthen mutual learning, exchanges and interactions between legal practitioners from the mainland and the hong kong special administrative region. legal workers from the departments of justice (bureaus), arbitration institutions, the hong kong and macao affairs office of the state council and the legal affairs bureau of the macao special administrative region government from beijing, shanghai, chongqing, zhejiang, shenzhen, nanjing and qingdao participated in the event.

during the event, our arbitrators visited the department of justice, the independent commission against corruption, the hong kong police force, the legislative council, the office of the privacy commissioner for personal data, the independent police complaints handling commission, the legal aid department, the government laboratory, and the hong kong society for complaints (former north kowloon magistrates' courts), the high court, the law society of hong kong, the hong kong bar association, the hong kong international arbitration center, the school of law of the chinese university of hong kong and other legal-related institutions, government departments and top law schools to understand the operation of the hong kong government and social development. understand hong kong’s legal system and judicial practice. when visiting the hong kong lawyers society and the hong kong international arbitration center, our arbitrators had in-depth exchanges with participants on hot topics in the field of international arbitration, and shared practical experience in handling cross-border trade disputes and the application of international commercial arbitration rules.

in recent years, we have thoroughly studied and implemented xi jinping’s thoughts on the rule of law and a series of important expositions, fully implemented the work arrangements of the central, provincial and municipal committees on strengthening foreign-related legal construction, brought into play the advantages of arbitration, and served the construction of the shanghai cooperation organization demonstration zone and the qingdao free trade area. the number of cases has increased year by year, and the quality and efficiency of case handling and service levels have continued to improve. it was rated as one of the “top ten arbitration institutions in the country” for the second consecutive time in 2018. in the next step, i will further improve my political position, anchor the goal of "creating a new high-level opening to the outside world", effectively enhance the sense of responsibility and mission for foreign-related legal work, make up for shortcomings and strengths and weaknesses, and continuously strengthen institutional innovation. and institutional supply, continue to deepen the training of foreign-related arbitration talents, strive to improve the level of foreign-related arbitration services, steadily increase the awareness and influence of foreign-related arbitration, continue to create highlights of foreign-related arbitration services, accelerate the construction of world-class arbitration institutions, and optimize marketization and the rule of law. contribute arbitration power to a first-class, internationalized business environment.
