in this regard, chargerlab used a series of apple and third-party chargers to test the charging power of iphone 16 pro max in detail.

1. apple official charger

total15 styles, ranging from basic 5w to notebook 140w.

these chargers are compatible with iphone 16 pro max, but the maximum power is only just over 30w, which proves that this is the limit.

among them, the 30w charger has a maximum of 28.4w, and the 87w charger has a maximum of 25.2w. it is recommended not to match them.

2. third-party charger

total72 models, from various brands, with a minimum power of 20w and a maximum of 200w.

there are no issues with compatibility, butthe maximum power is also around 30w, of which patriot gallium nitride 65w can reach 31.86w.

those with a power exceeding 30w can basically achieve it, while those around 30w are generally slightly lower than 29w. the strange thing is that the xiaomi patch 45w can only achieve 25.5w.

3. charging power/voltage

when using apple’s 70w charger,the initial voltage is 15v and the peak power is 28w, which can last for about 13 minutes.

later it gradually dropped to22W、15W, only after 1 hour and 9 minutes8W, while the voltage dropped to 5v after 55 minutes.

after 2 hours and 7 minutes, the battery showed that it was fully charged, but charging was still continuing.it ended up taking 2 hours and 20 minutes.

look at it from another angle,i hit 50% in 26 minutes, but then slowed down significantly, with 80% taking up to 57 minutes, and the final 20% taking up to 1 hour and 23 minutes.

4. charging temperature

after 15 minutes, the power is 26w,the maximum temperature is 36.4℃ on the front and 37.7℃ on the back.

after 25 minutes, the temperature on the front was 35.5°c and on the back was 36.7°c. at the same time, it can be seen that the overall temperature distribution is relatively even except for the top and bottom.

after 40 minutes, the temperature on the front side was 32.5°c and on the back side was 33.3°c.

overall, as time goes by, the charging power is decreasing and the temperature is getting lower and lower. after 40 minutes, you basically don’t feel hot.

5. wireless charging

the maximum power of apple magsafe charger is about 18.28w, the voltage is close to 9v and the current is about 2a.

the maximum power of third-party chargers is only about 7w, the voltage is similar, but the current is very low.

6. reverse charging

use 5a cc data cable to connect airpods pro,the output power is only about 1.26w, the voltage is about 5.2v, and the current is about 0.24a.
