in order to further strengthen the work of ensuring smooth maritime traffic in the northern seas during the national day and continuously improve the ability to rescue large-scale lives at sea, on september 27, the beihai rescue bureau of the ministry of transport, yantai maritime safety administration and bohai ferry group co., ltd. dispatched a total of 3 a boat and a rescue helicopter conducted emergency rescue drills.
the drill was conducted in an unscripted manner, simulating a fire in the engine room of a ro-ro passenger ship in the waters near the anchorage outside yantai. after the cabin was sealed, carbon dioxide was released, and the ship was in an out-of-control state. there were 230 people on board and one crew member was burned during the rescue process. the ship needed to be rescued for emergency towing. and helicopters to transport injured persons.
after receiving the alarm, the beihai rescue bureau dispatched nearby ships and rescue helicopters to go to the rescue. the rescue ship brought an emergency tow cable to the ro-ro passenger ship, controlled the ship in distress, and towed it back safely. the rescue helicopter transferred an injured crew member from the ship in distress to the shore for emergency rescue, and the injured crew member's vital signs returned to normal.
at the same time, the emergency response leadership team of the beihai rescue bureau quickly assembled in the rescue duty room to provide shore-based support for the exercise. the participating forces maintained communication with the rescue duty room, and the participating ships used the ship-to-shore video system to transmit the exercise footage in real time to ensure smooth ship-to-shore information.
it is understood that the beihai rescue bureau deployed 15 rescue boats, 3 rescue helicopters and 7 emergency rescue teams in the northern sea area during the national day. deploy high-horsepower professional rescue ships on duty on the yanda ro-ro route; deploy a high-horsepower rescue ship in penglai to strengthen the security of maritime transportation such as the penglai route and the "northern five islands" route in changdao waters, especially for passenger flow during peak periods, ships on duty are organized to carry out dynamic cruise standby in a timely manner to ensure that in the event of danger, they can respond quickly, dispatch in time, and provide efficient rescue.
