shen jiaxuan is a taiwanese girl who is a junior at zhejiang university of communication. she was born in 2004. she is good at singing and dancing and full of energy. most of the short videos she shoots are singing, dancing, and rehearsal short films. she has an enviable reputation. wonderful college life.
"being able to sing and dance has given me a richer college life." shen jiaxuan told the paper (www.thepaper.cn) that she is also a member of the magi girl group, which is a female singing and dancing group established in 2023. all six members are students at zhejiang university of communication. they have released a number of singles and have become an influential self-made girl group for college students in universities across the country, with hundreds of thousands of fans on social media.
not only singing and dancing, shen jiaxuan has been traveling between the two sides of the taiwan strait for a long time. she found that young people on both sides have no problem communicating in real life, but misunderstandings can easily arise in cyberspace due to misleading media.
in view of the above situation, she hopes to use her professional and personal experience to produce popular online programs so that young people on both sides of the taiwan strait can learn more about and communicate with each other.
"i don't want to see everyone arguing on the internet." shen jiaxuan said.

“young people should not set limits on themselves”
shen jiaxuan is the product of cross-strait love. her father is from hsinchu, taiwan, and her mother is from jixi, heilongjiang.
her parents met in guangdong more than 20 years ago, and they soon fell in love and got married.
her parents also worked in the mainland for a long time after their marriage, so shen jiaxuan lived in the mainland most of the time. only during the winter and summer vacations every year could she return to her hometown in hsinchu, taiwan, eat taiwanese food and make new local friends.
this is also a true portrayal of the life of many taiwanese businessmen in the mainland. they have to get used to constantly switching life scenes between the two sides of the taiwan strait.
at first, shen jiaxuan didn't care about this living situation. as time went by, she realized that there were still slight differences in living habits, including educational concepts, between the two sides of the taiwan strait.
"taiwan's schools have a relatively relaxed learning environment and greater flexibility in teaching content, allowing students to establish their own interests and hobbies; in mainland schools, the teaching style is very strict and the subjects are very professional, so it takes a lot of effort to study, and many students they are all very good at learning," shen jiaxuan said.
the differences in educational philosophies between the two sides of the taiwan strait are also reflected in the family. growing up, her mother had very strict requirements on her studies and set a clear goal for her - "at least finish college"; on the contrary, her father's requirements were relatively loose. , hoping that she can develop her own interests and hobbies.
"i combine my hobbies and studies fairly well," shen jiaxuan said.
in 2021, she took part in the national joint entrance examination for overseas chinese students and was eventually admitted to zhejiang university of communication with excellent results. the reason she applied for the school was that she was interested in working in the media industry, and zhejiang university of communication was "very famous" among taiwanese candidates.
"i loved watching taiwanese variety shows when i was a kid, so i was particularly interested in both the front and backstage aspects of program production." shen jiaxuan said.
her situation is numerous among taiwanese students at zhejiang university of communication. among the majority of taiwanese students in the school, many have developed a strong interest in mainland china because they like to watch mainland movies, tv dramas and variety shows, and thus decided to apply for admission to mainland universities.
she believes that young people should not set limits on themselves. young people in taiwan should go out more and see the world, especially the mainland, where they will have very different experiences.
"we should actively participate in exchanges and see the world from a more diversified perspective." shen jiaxuan said.

"let young people on both sides of the taiwan strait know more about each other"
during her college years, shen jiaxuan actively participated in school and social activities. as a taiwan youth, she participated in exchange activities across the country many times.
in 2023, as a "one-day reporter" of china taiwan network, she went to the countryside in western hunan, hunan, to visit the "old tea king", the local intangible cultural heritage inheritor, and learned tea making and miao slang, including dancing under the beautiful scenery of nature. the dance was uploaded to social media to spread the word of rural revitalization; in addition, she also participated in the ceremony to commemorate the yellow emperor xuanyuan at the xiandu scenic area in jinyun county, zhejiang. this trip opened her eyes and gave her a more concrete understanding of what it means to "same root and same origin".
while participating in the event, she also fully understood the unique charm of china's excellent traditional culture.
this happens to be the most important thing for many taiwanese youth who are interested in mainland china. the most fundamental motivation for some taiwanese students she met to apply for mainland universities is - "to see what mainland is like."
she believes that mainland china is a vast country, and students and teachers from all over the country gather together, creating a great cultural conflict in terms of ideas and concepts.
"young people on both sides of the taiwan strait should learn from each other and understand each other." shen jiaxuan said.
taking employment and entrepreneurship as the most important concern for young people on both sides of the taiwan strait, the mainland has become an important place for many taiwanese young people to grow, become talented and succeed, attracting countless taiwanese young people to cross the taiwan strait and come here to work hard.
"i feel that mainland china has more opportunities for success." shen jiaxuan said that she remembered that a well-known tv organization once invited her to participate in the recording of a program. faced with such a good opportunity, she was eager to try, but unfortunately because the final exam was approaching, she finally couldn't i can only give up.
"as long as you have the skills, you can get opportunities anywhere." shen jiaxuan said that whether she joins the magi girl group or participates in various social practices, including running self-media, she just wants to learn more skills.

currently, the pace of life in first-tier cities in mainland china is faster than in taiwan. for this reason, she often returns to taiwan to experience the relaxation of the slow pace.
"i rarely see the sea in the mainland. every time i return to taiwan, my favorite thing to do is to go for a walk on the beach." shen jiaxuan said.
while living in mainland china, she also hoped that she would have more time to experience the fireworks of each city and taste the local food.
talking about her future growth path, shen jiaxuan said that she has not determined her direction yet, and has initially decided to continue her studies in japan and south korea, and then return to her motherland, or go to taiwan to participate in program production and entertainment industry.
due to long-term travel between the two places, she also found that young people on both sides of the taiwan strait are very good in real-life communication. however, due to the misleading of the media, there is a serious asymmetry of information between the two sides, resulting in young people not understanding each other in the internet public opinion field.
in order to eliminate unnecessary misunderstandings, she hopes that she can also produce programs to promote communication and understanding between people on both sides of the taiwan strait.
in fact, many young people in taiwan have already taken action. they use street interviews and filming to discuss topics of concern to young people on both sides of the taiwan strait. shen jiaxuan likes an online program called "taiwan girlfriends" very much. the program was filmed and produced by two taiwanese girls studying in the mainland. they use a witty and humorous tone to tell interesting stories about the two sides of the taiwan strait, and use relaxed comparisons to cut into the issues and provide a basis for the discussion. young people on both sides of the taiwan strait have built a good communication platform.
"i am willing to use my personal experience and communication skills to let young people on both sides of the taiwan strait know more about each other." shen jiaxuan said.
