on january 30, 2024, the dongfeng county people's court publicly tried the case. after trial, it was found that the company was a "live broadcast + dating" fraud gang. the defendant cui operated the media company from june 2020 to may 2023, hired zhang and sun as company management, and hired a large number of live broadcast anchors and operators. the company used a one-on-one partnership model between a female anchor and a male operator. after the victim was led to the anchor's live broadcast room, the female anchor chatted with the victim in the live broadcast room, and promised to add the anchor's wechat to become a friend if a certain amount of gifts were given, and hinted that adding wechat would have "benefits". the male operator then used the anchor's wechat to pretend to be the anchor and chat with the victim, and continued to induce the victim to swipe gifts in the live broadcast room on the grounds that he could send the anchor's nude photos, obscene videos, or make appointments to eat, drink, play, date, and have sex. when the gifts reached a certain level, the victim's wechat was deleted and blocked. 50% of the amount spent by the victim on the live streaming platform is discounted by the platform to the media company. the company manager pays wages based on a base salary plus 1% of the total monthly performance. the anchors and operators make profits based on a base salary + commission. the excess of monthly performance after reaching the prescribed amount is paid as a commission of 20%-30%.

after audit, it was found that the media company had used the above-mentioned methods to commit fraud since its establishment, with the total amount involved in the case being more than rmb 13.17 million. after deducting the platform revenue, the company's illegal profit was more than rmb 6.58 million. the illegal income of each defendant ranged from more than rmb 7,000 to more than rmb 1.57 million.

on march 28, 2024, the dongfeng county people's court pronounced a verdict in accordance with the law, sentencing the defendant cui moumou and 50 others to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from six months to 13 years and imposing corresponding fines. cui moumou and six other defendants appealed the first-instance verdict.

recently, after four months of trial, the liaoyuan intermediate people's court ruled in accordance with the law to reject the appeal of cui mou and six others and upheld the original verdict.
