on the afternoon of september 26, the provincial airport group and yto group signed a contract in hangzhou to join hands in strategic cooperation and jointly build the jiaxing yangtze river delta air cargo hub.
according to the agreement, the two parties will jointly build the jiaxing yangtze river delta air cargo hub in accordance with the decision and deployment of the provincial party committee and government to "build a strong civil aviation province at a high level and create a highland for low-altitude economic development", give full play to the leading role of the international all-cargo route network in the market, optimize and improve the layout of aviation logistics facilities, strive to reduce cross-border logistics costs, and promote more high-quality zhejiang products to reach overseas markets directly, and contribute zhejiang airport's strength to the high-level construction of a strong civil aviation province and the creation of a high-level cross-border e-commerce international hub province.
the provincial airport group currently manages and operates 8 transport airports and 10 general airports in the province. it is the vanguard and main force of the province's "high-level construction of a strong civil aviation province and a highland for low-altitude economic development", and is committed to becoming a world-class modern airport comprehensive service provider. jiaxing airport, located between shanghai and hangzhou, is currently being transformed and upgraded into jiaxing's global aviation logistics hub, and is also the first professional air cargo hub in the yangtze river delta. it has a total land area of 7,781 acres and a total investment of 15.2 billion yuan. it is positioned as "taking into account both passengers and cargo, with cargo as the main focus". it is designed to achieve a passenger throughput of 1.8 million and an annual cargo and mail throughput of 1.1 million tons by 2030. it is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of 2025.
yto group is a comprehensive logistics industry chain provider that integrates express logistics, aviation, information technology, investment, finance and trade. its yto cargo airlines has a fleet of 13 aircraft and has opened 8 international all-cargo routes in our province. currently, yto airlines has opened hangzhou-dhaka, hangzhou-dubai, hangzhou-moscow, hangzhou-budapest; ningbo-seoul, ningbo-hanoi; wenzhou-seoul, wenzhou-manila all-cargo routes in the province. from january to august 2024, yto airlines' international cargo volume in zhejiang was 34,500 tons, accounting for 15.77% of the province's international cargo volume of 218,800 tons.
the relevant person in charge of the provincial airport group said that it will continue to play the role of the main force and platform in the investment and financing construction of civil aviation infrastructure, airport operation management and aviation industry development in the province, accelerate the construction of the coordinated development system of zhejiang airports with "one core, two hubs and six nodes", and achieve a passenger throughput of more than 100 million passengers at the provincial airports by 2027. efforts will be made to build a modern air cargo hub system of "two hubs, two features and one profession" in our province, deepen all-round cooperation with yto group in the aviation logistics operation business of airports in the province, especially in hangzhou, ningbo, wenzhou and jiaxing airports, and support yto to take root in zhejiang and grow stronger.
the head of yto group said that it will make every effort to build a global network layout with "1+6" as the key nodes, focusing on the two major positionings of "important industrial platform for the integration of the yangtze river delta" and "military-civilian integration demonstration base", and undertake the three major functions of yto global aviation logistics hub, yangtze river delta international trade distribution center and shared multimodal transport center. during the cooperation period, yto group will deploy no less than 50% of its total fleet capacity in our province, open no less than 10 all-cargo routes to europe, america and southeast asia, and increase the proportion of our province's total air cargo volume to more than 15%.
