recently, at the 2024 turin motor show held in turin, a northern italian city, a six-seater driverless minibus (robobus) made in guizhou attracted people's attention with its novel futuristic design and cutting-edge autonomous driving technology.
robobus debuts on the streets of turin
this minibus was independently developed and manufactured by guizhou hankes intelligent technology co., ltd. (hereinafter referred to as hankes) located in guiyang national hi-tech zone. the whole vehicle adopts a symmetrical design with no distinction between the front and the rear. it is composed of an unmanned chassis and a cabin. there are no traditional components such as a cockpit, steering wheel, and pedals in the car. an interactive display can display vehicle data in real time, and there are a series of rich entertainment functions waiting to be explored.
vincenzo diglio, a local italian exhibitor, said: "this minibus is full of futuristic sense. i believe it will become an indispensable part of future life."
in may this year, hankesi signed a cooperation agreement with italian mobile travel solution provider tecnocad, and successfully obtained the first batch of autonomous driving car licenses for testing and operating on public roads in turin, italy. according to the cooperation agreement, hankesi will provide tecnocad with its self-developed unmanned minibus (robobus) and various types of autonomous driving mobile spaces, and tecnocad will be responsible for the landing and operation services of hankesi's unmanned driving products in turin, italy. the two parties are working together to promote unmanned driving to provide shuttle services for turin citizens.
robobus attracts global attention
"currently, the minibus has been running on trial near turin and the test is going very smoothly. we plan to conduct more tests across europe starting next month. this collaboration aims to expand the visibility of autonomous driving technology in italy and europe and explore new application scenarios in different markets." stefano cini, chief operating officer of tecnocad, said he is optimistic about the market prospects of driverless minibuses, believing that this not only meets the requirements of the global green transformation of transportation, but also represents a new mode of transportation sharing in urban and off-road environments.
it is reported that the turin motor show has a history of more than 100 years and is a design trend vane for the international automotive industry. this year's auto show was held in several commercial streets and squares in the center of turin, attracting more than 40 global auto companies and more than 500,000 visitors. next, hankes will continue to work with global partners to land more driverless minibuses and provide new shuttle services for local people.
