the top 100 chongqing enterprises in 2024 are based on the standards for the top 500 chinese enterprises formulated by the china enterprise confederation. they are voluntarily declared by the enterprises and ranked in descending order according to their operating income in 2023.
this is the 21st time that the chongqing federation of enterprises (entrepreneurs association) has announced the research results and various lists of the top 100 chongqing enterprises to the public.
the list shows that the entry threshold for chongqing's top 100 companies this year is 4.7 billion yuan, 4.4 billion yuan higher than 21 years ago, and 16.7 times the amount when the chongqing's top 100 companies were first released 21 years ago. the top 100 companies have strong development resilience, with total revenue reaching 2.36 trillion yuan, standing at the 2 trillion yuan revenue mark for five consecutive years; total assets of 6.08 trillion yuan, standing at the 6 trillion yuan total assets mark for three consecutive years; realized profits of 126.97 billion yuan; paid taxes of 100.191 billion yuan; and employed 760,000 people.
the total operating revenue of enterprises with revenue of over 10 billion yuan accounted for 86.1%. there were 3 enterprises with revenue of over 100 billion yuan, which was the same as last year. there were 11 enterprises with revenue between 50 billion yuan and 100 billion yuan in the top 100, and 4 enterprises including bosai mining, xinoupeng group, jinlong copper tube, and zhifei biological had revenues of 50 billion yuan. in addition, sinopec chongqing fuling shale gas exploration and development co., ltd. has newly entered the 10 billion yuan club.

specifically, the top three of the 2024 chongqing top 100 enterprises are changan automobile, longfor group, and dafeng computer. the 4th to 10th are chemical and pharmaceutical group, chongqing pharmaceutical holdings, state grid electric power company, inventec, xinoupeng group, qianxin group, and bosai group.
at the same time, changan automobile has been the "champion" of chongqing's manufacturing enterprises for 21 consecutive years. the 2nd to 10th places are dafeng computer, chemical and pharmaceutical group, inventec, bosai group, jinlong copper tube, zhifei biological, xiaokang holdings, mechanical and electrical group, and light textile group.
changan automobile won two "crowns" in one fell swoop, namely the top 100 chongqing enterprises in 2024 and the top 100 manufacturing enterprises, becoming the double champion of chongqing enterprises. it is also the leading enterprise in chongqing with a revenue of more than 200 billion yuan for three consecutive years.
longfor group ranks first among the top 100 service enterprises in chongqing in 2024. the 2nd to 10th places are chongqing pharmaceutical holdings, state grid corporation of china, xinoupeng group, qianxin group, municipal rural commercial bank, huayu group, south china materials, xiaochuan industrial, and expressway group.

"for the first time in 21 years since the release of the top 100, the industrial composition of chongqing's top 100 enterprises has undergone structural changes this year," said guo qinghua, executive vice president and secretary general of chongqing federation of enterprises (entrepreneurs association). among them, the performance of secondary industry enterprises was particularly outstanding, with 68 enterprises on the list, an increase of 7 over the previous year. among them, the number of manufacturing enterprises increased, reaching 56 at most, an increase of 8 over the previous year. the number of tertiary industry enterprises decreased. for the first time, no enterprises in the primary industry made the top 100 list.
the industry structure continues to optimize, and the number of advanced manufacturing and modern service industry enterprises has continued to increase. among the top 100 companies this year, 37 advanced manufacturing companies were shortlisted, an increase of 8 over the previous year; 22 modern service industry companies were shortlisted, an increase over the previous year. manufacturing companies are working at full capacity to develop new quality productivity and accelerate the transformation and upgrading of chongqing's "manufacturing" to "smart manufacturing" and "creation". the operating income scale of the three major industries of automobiles, materials, and electronics accounts for more than 60% of the top 100 manufacturing industries, making them the leading phalanx of the manufacturing industry. chemical, equipment, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and other industries have also become an important support for the manufacturing industry.
this year, chongqing's top 100 companies invested 37.45 billion yuan in r&d in 2023, up 13.38% from the previous year. among them, the overall r&d expenditure of chongqing's top 100 manufacturing companies in 2024 reached 32.03 billion yuan, up 9.20% year-on-year; the r&d investment intensity reached 2.20%, much higher than other industries.
the list shows that the scale of manufacturing industry continues to expand. among the top 100 enterprises, 56 manufacturing enterprises achieved a net revenue growth of 29.9 billion yuan in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%, accounting for 56.13% of the total operating income, a new high. the entry threshold of chongqing's top 100 manufacturing enterprises in 2024 reached 1.8 billion yuan, an increase of 620 million yuan over the previous year, setting a new historical high; revenue reached 1.45 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.27%; total assets totaled 1.44 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.63%, an increase of 13.99 percentage points over the previous year.
at the same time, manufacturing enterprises are the only industry that achieved a net increase in total tax payments, with a net increase in tax payments of 2.28 billion yuan in 2023. the taxes paid by 56 manufacturing enterprises accounted for 50.7% of the total tax payments of the top 100 companies.
in addition, there are 8 top 100 enterprises with an operating income growth of more than 30%, of which 6 are manufacturing enterprises, namely: kuayue group, fuling energy industry group, chongqing haier air conditioner, zhifei biotechnology, midea general, and qingshan industry. five manufacturing enterprises, including changan automobile, zhifei biotechnology, fuling shale gas, chongqing boe, and chongqing beer, are among the top ten in terms of total profits.
compared with 2023, there are 13 "new faces" in this year's list of chongqing's top 100 companies, namely: logistics group, yibao wisdom, great wall motor chongqing company, midea refrigeration, compal computer chongqing company, cssc wind power, chongqing haier air conditioner, yaoyou pharmaceutical, yujiang die casting, luohuang power generation, fuling energy group, hongfujing electronics, and midea general.
