on september 25, the topping-out ceremony of the first domestic 8.6-generation amoled production line invested and built by boe was held in chengdu hi-tech zone. the production line took only 183 days from start of construction to topping-out, which will greatly promote the oled display industry to quickly enter the medium-size development stage.

boe's 8.6th generation amoled production line has a total investment of 63 billion yuan, which is the largest single industrial project in sichuan province so far. it has a designed production capacity of 32,000 glass substrates (size 2290mm×2620mm) per month, and mainly produces high-end touch oled displays for smart terminals such as laptops and tablets. boe uses low-temperature polycrystalline silicon oxide (ltpo) backplane technology and stacked light-emitting device preparation technology to achieve lower power consumption and longer service life for oled screens, which will also drive the iteration and upgrade of downstream notebook and tablet products.

at present, boe has invested in the construction of three 6th-generation flexible amoled production lines in chengdu, chongqing, and mianyang. together with the construction of the first 8.6th-generation amoled production line in china, it fully demonstrates its world-leading technical strength and industry influence. it is worth noting that as of 2023, boe's flexible oled shipments have ranked first in china and second in the world for many consecutive years (data source: omdia), and there are more than 30,000 flexible oled-related patent applications. boe's flexible display technology is not only used in the mobile phone field, but also continues to expand into notebooks, cars, wearables and other fields. flexible display solutions such as folding screens, sliding screens, and full screens have covered many leading terminal brands at home and abroad, further establishing boe's global leading position in the oled field.
