it is understood that the land for the mutual aid garden was originally a vacant lot in the community filled with construction waste. the students of beijing forestry university worked with the community and property management to clean up the garbage and planted more than 30 kinds of perennial flowers and ornamental grasses with ornamental and medicinal value on the land. the best viewing period is from may to august every year. they also painted the collective memory of the residents of the communities along the beijing-zhangjiakou railway on the 42.8-meter-long wall, as well as the construction process of the mutual aid garden and the scenes of mutual assistance among residents, conveying a beautiful vision of harmonious neighborhood and co-construction and sharing.

the beijing news reporter also noticed that rainwater collectors and compost bins were placed in the garden. it is understood that the land under the garden is all cement and bricks, which makes irrigation inconvenient, so rainwater collectors were set up to assist irrigation. at present, the rainwater collectors and compost bins have been put into use, and residents need to continue to maintain and use them. the students explained in detail the principle of the "sandwich composting method" and demonstrated on site how to use fallen leaves, vegetable leaves and fruit peels for composting.
it is worth mentioning that jingtie mutual aid garden, as the outdoor exhibition venue of the "action design" theme exhibition of beijing international design week, is currently exhibiting public space creation and renewal cases from all over the country. the exhibition will last until september 30.
