yishan island in fujian province, between the blue sea and sky, is an island that has yet to be developed, with charming natural scenery. during a break in recording "island boys", ding zhen and other teenagers sat on a fishing raft, humming songs while enjoying the picturesque scenery and the quiet time. this gave ding zhen the idea of holding a concert by the sea. "i have heard that there is a concert on this island every year. i think it would be so interesting if a group of us teenagers could do it together." ding zhen's words were full of longing and expectation. his proposal was strongly supported by other teenagers, and everyone wanted to do their part, which touched ding zhen very much.
the process of implementing ideas is not easy. from design to execution, every step of the concert is full of challenges. the teenagers had no relevant experience, and ding zhen felt scared and uneasy. but it was this uneasiness that inspired the fighting spirit of the teenagers. ding zhen worked hard to learn songs and dances... as the director of the concert, he also had to mobilize the enthusiasm of the entire team. during the 120 days of living on yishan island, ding zhen and a group of teenagers witnessed the changes of the island and experienced many unforgettable moments together. talking about his feelings about recording "island boys", ding zhen said: "there is no preset script here, and no one told me what kind of program this is before i came. at that time, i thought i could go diving or enjoy nature, and i brought diving equipment with me. when i got here, i found that some things were not useful at all. the program team just told everyone to find something to do by themselves."
"doing more, talking less" is the impression many people have of ding zhen. in this regard, ding zhen said frankly that he is an introvert and very shy in front of unfamiliar friends. but the natural closeness between the teenagers made ding zhen gradually become lively. "my biggest gain from coming to yishan island is that i have experienced what collective life is, which fills the gap in my life experience. we all get to know each other here slowly, become familiar with each other, and live in the same house. this feeling is particularly interesting. and we talk every day, and my mandarin is getting better and better."
the plateau and the sea are in stark contrast, which makes ding zhen very excited. he said: "my daily life on the plateau was to dig cordyceps and matsutake. coming here feels like i'm living in a different world. it's really interesting. the people here are fishermen, and they have to raise fish. sometimes i think fishermen are too hard-working, having to get up at 3 a.m. to feed the fish and do a lot of things."
as a young man promoting yishan island, ding zhen admitted that his biggest wish for the show was to make yishan island better and better.
