wenzhou, september 22 (zhou jian, kong liqin, xiang jingnan) yueqing city, wenzhou city, zhejiang province, is the pioneer of china's private economy and is also known as the "chinese electrical capital". in 2023, yueqing's cumulative exports to africa reached 2.052 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%; from january to july 2024, the cumulative exports reached 1.333 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.8%. in terms of export commodities, electrical products are the main commodities exported by yueqing to africa.

a series of data bear witness to the steady upgrading of cooperation between this county in southern zhejiang and africa, and behind the data are vivid stories.

driven by the global trend of carbon neutrality, the african continent is becoming a hotbed for new energy development relying on its rich renewable energy resources.

recently, yueqing-based chint group co., ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "chint") successfully won two major photovoltaic project contracts in algeria. the total project scale is as high as 1,000 megawatts, which will inject strong impetus into africa's green energy revolution.

in fact, chint has left its footprints in the african market many times. in january 2020, the 165.5mw benban photovoltaic project undertaken by chint was successfully handed over to egypt for operation and maintenance. the project can achieve "zero emissions" of electricity for 25 years, and a large number of local egyptian managers and labor will be employed during the project construction to help solve local employment problems and skills training needs. the project pictures are also printed on egyptian coins, becoming a vivid example of how china-africa green energy cooperation benefits people's livelihood.

as china-africa cooperation continues to deepen and become more practical, more and more yueqing entrepreneurs are leaving their footprints on the african continent.

"we started trade with africa around 2018. our products are extending from ordinary electrical components in the traditional power sector to the new energy industry, and are used in many fields such as power equipment, farmland infrastructure, new energy photovoltaic energy storage, etc." when talking about trade with africa, liu dexian, chairman of zhejiang jinlaile electric co., ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "jinlaile"), bluntly stated that this is a "journey of emotions."

many years ago, jinlaier established contact with many african customers through platforms such as the canton fair and the middle east power exhibition. in recent years, africa's infrastructure and public services are undergoing earth-shaking changes, and power and new energy electrical components from yueqing have been favored by african countries and regions. with excellent product quality and product varieties that keep up with demand, jinlaier's trade with africa has steadily increased. in 2023, the company's trade volume with africa reached more than 20 million yuan.

"although the total amount is not high, we value the brand effect more. high-quality yueqing electrical components are becoming the choice of more and more african customers." liu dexian said that in the wave of globalization, cultural exchanges and technological exchanges are increasingly becoming an important part of international cooperation. while expanding the "circle of friends", jinlaile attaches great importance to the cultivation of local talents and cross-cultural integration, and strengthens interaction with "friends".

relevant staff of the yueqing municipal bureau of commerce said that yueqing will continue to integrate resources to help yueqing enterprises "go global" and expand their "circle of friends around the world" to contribute to the high-quality development of china-africa economic and trade cooperation.
