recently, a batch of cooked melon seeds with a value of 556,800 yuan arrived in vientiane, laos. the goods were previously released under the supervision of chongqing port customs under chongqing customs, and were shipped from chongqing guoyuan port. they took the china-laos train via the western land-sea corridor and left the country via the mohan port. this is the first international train cargo exported by chongqing guoyuan port through the "railway express" business model.

according to statistics, in the first seven months of this year, 6,529 rail-sea combined transport trains were operated on the western land-sea corridor, a year-on-year increase of 23.5%; 1.7096 million cross-border road transport trips were carried out, a year-on-year increase of 25.45%; 5,979 international railway trains were operated, a year-on-year increase of 39.86%. the three logistics modes of the western land-sea corridor have shown a good momentum of both quantity and quality. the western land-sea corridor is becoming a trade channel and economic corridor that promotes the development and opening up of the regions along the route and deeply integrates into the joint construction of the "belt and road".
as the operation and organization center of the western land-sea corridor, chongqing has developed more than 100 new logistics routes in the past two years, and more and more countries participating in the construction of the belt and road initiative have become new destinations for the western land-sea corridor. as the "circle of friends" of the western land-sea corridor continues to expand, chrome ore imported from south africa in original containers meets "made in chongqing" export cars at chongqing guoyuan port; lao bananas imported via the china-laos-thailand cold chain train and fresh lemons exported from tongnan have been transferred in chongqing... more and more goods are being transported internationally through the western land-sea corridor.
a relevant person in charge of chongqing customs introduced that in order to fully activate the vitality of the channel and serve the development of enterprises, they will explore the implementation of the pilot program of "optimization of inspection and supervision model for chrome ore in sea-rail intermodal transport containers", promote the use of the "railway express" model, and innovatively implement the "western land-sea new corridor sea-rail intermodal transport domestic railway freight deduction" measures, etc., to help the western land-sea new corridor improve its operating efficiency and promote economic and trade exchanges.
at present, the new western land-sea corridor has reached 523 ports around the world, better connecting the domestic and international markets. the types of goods transported have also increased from more than 80 to more than 1,100, covering dozens of major categories such as electronic products, complete vehicles and parts, machinery, small household appliances, and food, fully promoting the high-level opening up of the western region.
