the "nanshan zhishang cup" golden wool fashion apparel design competition is guided by the china national textile and apparel council, co-organized by the china fashion designers association and shandong nanshan zhishang technology co., ltd., supported by the woolmark company, and cooperating with yantai nanshan university. the competition is themed "classics and reshaping", focusing on the full range of worsted wool fashion series for the autumn and winter of 2025-2026, and taking worsted wool fabric clothing as the creative starting point, aiming to promote the integration of traditional craftsmanship with individual needs, modern technology, and green concepts, and encourage young designers to create fashion masterpieces that are in line with the spirit of the times and contain profound cultural heritage.

in the world of fashion, classics are an eternal source of inspiration, encouraging designers to look back at history, draw inspiration from classic wool clothing, and at the same time use modern design concepts and technologies to reimagine and create them.

the competition is open to professional designers, technicians from fashion companies and design studios across the country, teachers and students of fashion design and art majors, and teachers and students of clothing engineering majors in colleges and universities. art designers and fashion design enthusiasts are also welcome to actively participate.

work requirements
1. the work must be combined with the fashion trend of 25/26aw wool, and one of the themes can be selected for design. theme keywords: elegant and practical, enjoy sports, sustainable fashion;
2. the entries must be designed around the theme of the competition and use worsted wool fabric as the main fabric;
3. the entries must be original works that have not been published publicly. the organizing committee of the competition is not responsible for verifying the ownership of the entries. if infringement or violation of intellectual property rights is found, the contestant shall bear the legal responsibility and the organizer will disqualify him/her from participating.
4. the entries must be designed in series, with 3-4 sets of clothing in each series, regardless of men's or women's clothing;
5. the entries must reflect the characteristics of worsted wool, taking into account practicality, commerciality and artistry, with beautiful shapes and fine workmanship, and attention should be paid to the rationality and completeness of the matching of clothing items.
6. participants must submit 2 pages of design drawings. page 1 is the series of fashion design renderings, design themes, design ideas, and inspiration sources. page 2 is the style drawings, fabric samples, and process instructions for each set of clothing. the drawings must be a3 size (297mmx420mm) with a resolution of no less than 300dpi.
7. the contestant’s name and personal information must not appear in the entries, otherwise the entries will be deemed invalid.
participation instructions
1. the electronic version of the application must be submitted as required. individuals or teams (within 2 persons) can participate in the competition.
2. design drawings will not be returned. the deadline for registration is november 22, 2024;
3. designers who enter the finals must independently complete the production of the physical clothing series according to the shortlisted design drafts. the organizing committee can provide nanshan zhishang fabric support to the designers who enter the finals;
4. the transportation expenses of the shortlisted designers to nanshan for field trips will be subsidized, and the board and lodging expenses will be borne by the organizer. the transportation expenses to beijing for the finals will be borne by themselves, and the board and lodging expenses during the finals in beijing will be borne by the organizer;
5. the contestants own all intellectual property rights of their entries, and the organizers have the right to publicly promote, publish and display all the entries.

judges: the judges are composed of senior scholars from home and abroad, professional designers, marketing experts, etc.
preliminary review: from late november to early december 2024, the participating design drawings will be preliminarily reviewed and announced, and the final selection notice will be issued;
final awards: in late march 2025, the shortlisted contestants will bring their actual competition clothing works to beijing for the final awards ceremony.

several school organization awards and several instructor awards
after the shortlisted designers participate in the finals, each will receive a subsidy of 3,000 yuan as a clothing production subsidy; shandong nanshan zhishang technology co., ltd. will collect all the clothing of the gold, silver and bronze medalists after the competition for display. the above bonuses or subsidies are all before tax, and all awards will be issued with honorary certificates by the china fashion designers association.
the shortlisted contestants can obtain the copyright certification service of their entries provided free of charge by china fashion intellectual property protection center www.fashionip.cn. this benefit is only available to designers from mainland china.
targeted legal aid support for ip rights protection: finalists can apply for the "young designer rights protection assistance project" jointly initiated by the china trademark association and the china fashion designers association. those approved by the china fashion designers association will receive free targeted legal aid for ip rights protection, including legal consultation for rights protection within one year (not written legal opinions). this benefit is only available to designers from mainland china.
