the incident took place at the hunan provincial department of finance staff building at no. 18, yichating lane, tianxin district, changsha city. according to eyewitnesses at the time of the incident, at around 9 a.m. that day, two sounds of falling objects were heard in succession, less than a minute apart. the listeners thought someone had dropped objects from a high altitude, because no other sounds were heard except the sound of falling to the ground. about ten minutes later, 120 arrived at the scene. witnesses later learned that someone had fallen from a building, and three people had died on the spot. liu wenjie was one of the three dead.
