in the lobby of the memorial hall of the first national congress of the communist party of china stands a large group sculpture "history chooses a great starting point" created by jiang tieli, vice chairman of the shanghai artists association and professor of shanghai academy of fine arts, shanghai university. jiang tieli brought a sample of the sculpture to the exhibition. he said that the artists of the democratic league recorded the changes of the times with their works, conveyed their yearning for a better life with the language of art, and painted vivid historical pictures with thick ink and heavy colors on the brush and lines and shapes under the carving knife.
