lido district is one of the earliest internationalized neighborhoods in beijing. after about 40 years of development, it has now become the "living room of the city." however, as time goes by, problems such as traffic congestion and insufficient public facilities need to be urgently addressed.
the renovation and upgrading project will be launched at the end of the year
in the past few years, the city has improved the overall urban environment of this area through a number of urban renewal projects. recently, the municipal development and reform commission approved the implementation plan for the public space renovation and upgrading project in the demonstration section of the taijiuxianqiao area, which is scheduled to be launched at the end of the year and will focus on improving and resolving regional traffic congestion and other issues. with the implementation of this project, the overall urban renewal of the lido area will also come to a perfect end.
at the end of 2020, the first phase of the urban renewal project in the lido area was completed. through the transformation, a comprehensive renewal from space to function and then to urban management was achieved. the economic industry, commercial office, human vitality, spatial environment, operation management and grassroots governance in the region were upgraded, laying the foundation for the development of the core commercial office hinterland in jiangtai, jiuxianqiao, wangjing and dongba areas.
widen roads, build slow-moving systems and parking facilities
the latest approved urban renewal project is located in the jiangtai jiuxianqiao area of chaoyang district, mainly renovating the west section of jiangtai road and the lido section of jiangtai west road. among them, the west section of jiangtai road starts from the airport expressway in the west and ends at jiuxianqiao road in the east, with a total length of 1.3 kilometers and an area of about 101,200 square meters; the lido section of jiangtai west road starts from the airport expressway in the west and ends at fangyuan west road in the east, with a total length of 0.65 kilometers and an area of about 15,100 square meters.
"in order to solve the traffic congestion problem in the area, the motor vehicle lane of jiangtai road will be widened this time, and the motor vehicle lane will be widened from two lanes, one up and one down, to four lanes, two up and two down, to connect the northeast fourth ring road and the fifth ring road." a relevant person in charge of the municipal development and reform commission said that this time a slow-moving system and parking facilities will also be built to reconstruct the slow-moving, parking and walking systems and create a street order with orderly slow-moving and parking, and lively and safe walking.

develop space plans with different characteristics in different sections

the project has formulated a space plan in sections based on the functional attributes of the street. while building a regional portal square, it will also set up three urban business squares along jiangtai road and improve four linear public spaces along the street in residential areas. reporters learned that in the future, the public environment space of jiangtai road will be divided into the entrance square section, portal business section, residential business section, mixed function section, and residential vitality section, creating a natural ecological, humanistic and diverse environment for people's livelihood, office and tourism.
among them, in the entrance square section, the city gateway square will be a "high quality + full function + all-time" shared square space for all people; the portal business section will create an urban business square along the street, form an open and shared green space, and create a natural, harmonious and beautiful international urban atmosphere; the residential business section will showcase the commercial business and residential image of the block; the mixed-function section will combine the functional requirements of tsinghua high school, united family hospital, catering vitality street and foreign-related apartments, set up crosswalks, leave distribution squares, and reasonably organize traffic flow lines, walking and crowd gathering spaces to achieve borderless connectivity; the residential vitality section plans to make up for the shortcomings of old communities such as single function and lack of vitality, and focus on meeting residents' needs for sports and leisure, parent-child entertainment, etc.
