“emotion can be a symbol as powerful as a brand logo. the deepest and most authentic emotions often come from personal experience and upbringing. therefore, in order to make the off-white™ brand community feel this energy, i incorporate my life trajectory into the creative process to make my work full of hope. clothes are more than just objects. they can tell stories and inject soul while maintaining practicality and functionality. this is also my goal in continuing the emotional world created by virgil.” - ibrahim kamara, artistic and visual director of off-white™.

“the collection was inspired by a trip to ghana, virgil’s homeland and a place he cherishes and references in his work,” says ibrahim. “i was born in sierra leone and grew up in london, but our experiences were very similar. i have vivid memories of america, especially new york: it’s a place where dreams come true and opportunities abound.”

"duty free" is the theme of the collection, representing the fusion of america and africa, with sportswear as a cultural bridge. the fusion of clean-lined sports style and african futurism sets the overall tone of the collection. the clothing in this series interprets tension and functionality in many different ways, and can flexibly respond to different occasions and needs. both men's and women's clothing contain the same spirit and use the same african tones, mainly neutral colors and khakis with red embellishments, showing bravery and vitality. ibrahim kamara said: "this design represents my own style and is the most autobiographical expression."

for women, off-white™ continues to explore draped, fitted styles, shaping the body with wrapping and architectural cuts. the surfaces are embellished with movement through decoration, embroidery and hand-painting. cuts are functional, lines are sharp, and transparent elements highlight sexiness, interpreting off-white™'s bold and charming female image.

the silhouette of men's clothing emphasizes practicality and luxury, conveying the concept of an urban uniform. the zipper design reflects versatility; the torn denim and angular cutting reflect the layering and texture of the shape; the mesh fabric and embroidery add interest to the series with a multicultural mix; the embroidered sports numbers inject a sense of sportiness into the clothing, making the overall male image of off-white™ exude confidence.

off-white™ collaborated with nana danso, a contemporary ghanaian artist whose artwork is recognized for its characters and distinct personalities. danso redesigned the brand’s iconic arrow motif and created key symbols related to the core themes of the collection.

the collection’s designs are grounded in reality with a touch of magic, all capturing new york’s inclusive spirit as a place for dreamers.
