panjiayuan building no. 7 was built in 1991. it is an 18-story residential building with nearly 600 residents. it is a typical old residential community with mixed housing. there were originally two elevators in the building, one of which has been scrapped due to serious aging. now there is only one elevator running, resulting in very tight transportation capacity during peak hours. "during the morning rush hour, we try not to go out and let the young people use it. one elevator is not enough. we have to give priority to people going to work." an elderly person in the community said.
