phoenix finance news on september 11, bloomberg reported that a british court allowed ding yumei, the ex-wife of china evergrande founder xu jiayin, to spend up to 20,000 pounds ($26,187) per month.

ding’s assets were frozen a month ago in a lawsuit filed by evergrande’s liquidators to recover about hk$2.8 billion ($359 million) she received in the form of dividends between 2018 and 2020 from two businesses she wholly owned.

ding yumei holds a 5.99% stake in evergrande, according to documents filed last year. she has more than $4 million in a u.k. bank account and lives in a luxury london apartment, according to a court filing on aug. 29. the apartment is part of thames city, a project developed by china chongqing land development, whose chairman is zhang songqiao, a longtime friend of xu jiayin.

earlier this year, a hong kong court ordered evergrande group to be wound up, launching one of china's largest liquidation cases.

in response, ding yumei's lawyer declined to comment, and the lawyer for evergrande's liquidator did not respond to bloomberg's request for comment.
