china youth daily client news (china youth daily, china youth network reporter yang jie) on september 8, the fourth international forum on big data for sustainable development (fbas 2024) closed in beijing. more than 700 representatives from relevant un agencies, domestic and foreign research institutions, and universities from many countries and regions around the world witnessed the official release of the beijing declaration on partnership for digital technology to accelerate sustainable development (hereinafter referred to as the declaration). the declaration calls on all parties around the world, especially experts and scholars from un member states and stakeholders, to work together to use digital technology and earth big data to accelerate the realization of the un sustainable development goals.
the declaration proposes seven key measures to inject new impetus into global sustainable development: first, jointly build open digital infrastructure and ai tools, establish a global data sharing platform, promote data openness and inclusiveness, and improve the scientific nature and accuracy of sustainable development decision-making; second, deepen global cooperation, promote digital transformation cooperation by strengthening international networks, and promote knowledge sharing and transnational capacity building; third, launch a big science plan to use digital technology and artificial intelligence to promote the implementation of sustainable development goals on a global scale within the framework of international scientific cooperation; fourth, strengthen capacity building, promote education and skills training, expand the popularization of digital technology, empower future talents, and lead sustainable development; fifth, use space technology to assess sustainable development, build a global satellite remote sensing monitoring system, and provide accurate geospatial data support for the progress of the united nations sustainable development goals; sixth, expand stakeholder participation, strengthen collaboration among governments, academia, enterprises and all sectors of society, and promote the widespread application of digital solutions in sustainable development; seventh, promote the popularization and sharing of science, expand global access to scientific knowledge, safeguard the universal value of science, ensure that the fruits of innovation benefit all mankind, and help global sustainable development.
academician guo huadong, chairman of the fbas 2024 conference and director of the international research center for big data for sustainable development, introduced that the "declaration" has brought together the international consensus on promoting cooperative development through scientific and technological innovation, and called on all parties to urgently regain confidence and accelerate digital transformation to overcome development obstacles and move towards a more sustainable future.
it is reported that fbas 2024 will open on september 6, hosted by the chinese academy of sciences and co-organized by the international research center for big data for sustainable development and the institute of space information innovation of the chinese academy of sciences.
