the chinese ministry of foreign affairs held a briefing today (9th) to introduce china's work as the rotating presidency of the shanghai cooperation organization.vice foreign minister sun weidong said that as soon as the astana summit of the shanghai cooperation organization ended in july this year, china took over the rotating presidency of the sco and will host the 25th meeting of the council of heads of state of the shanghai cooperation organization in china next year. china will take the opportunity of taking over the rotating presidency of the sco to work with the sco countries to bear in mind the original mission, adhere to unity and cooperation, implement the global development initiative, global security initiative and global civilization initiative, and make positive contributions to lasting peace and common prosperity in the world.
sun weidong said that next year's summit is the most important event within the sco framework and the core event during china's presidency. china will host a friendly, united and fruitful sco summit to build consensus among all parties and draw up a blueprint for development. in addition, china will also host more than 100 meetings and activities in the political, security, economic and cultural fields within the sco framework.
