on the afternoon of september 7, a reporter from zonglan news contacted the xianchuang community residents committee, and a staff member confirmed the incident to the reporter. she told the reporter that the delivery man was found by the property security guard of a nearby community that day, and the police were called. later, the delivery man was confirmed dead.

on september 8, a zonglan news reporter contacted yang yang (pseudonym), a food delivery rider in yuhang district. he told the reporter that he and the deceased rider were both crowdsourced food delivery riders. "he has been delivering food here for two or three years. i see him every day when i'm delivering orders, and i chat with him occasionally."

according to yang yang, at around 10pm on september 5, yang yang was delivering food and passed by agile international garden. he saw the delivery man lying on his electric bike and thought he was sleeping. at around 1am on september 6, when yang yang was about to go back to rest after delivering food, he passed by the place again and found that many people had gathered. the police had already set up a cordon, and then he realized that the delivery man had died.

yang yang told reporters that the deceased deliveryman was in his 50s and was not from hangzhou. he was under great financial pressure at home and was not in good health, but he worked very hard to deliver orders. he could earn about 500 to 600 yuan a day, and more than 700 yuan on rainy days. he was the one who worked the longest hours delivering food here, so everyone called him the "order king". "sometimes he worked until 3 a.m. and got up at 6 a.m. to take orders. he often slept only three or four hours a day. when he was tired, he would sleep on the electric bike and go out to deliver orders as soon as there was an order." yang yang told reporters that he had tried to be like this deliveryman, but he couldn't stand it after a week.

“he just bought a newer electric bike during the chinese new year this year, but i didn’t expect he would be gone like this.” yang yang said regretfully. he had advised the delivery man many times before not to work so hard, but he always said, “i’m used to it.”
