the construction of the dechong-funan canal project in cambodia officially started in august this year, with an estimated total investment of us$1.7 billion, and it will be completed and open to navigation in 2028. the project is designed to be 180 kilometers long, starting from cambodia's kandal province, and will flow through takeo, kampot, kep and other provinces and cities. after completion, it will benefit about 1.6 million people along the coast.
