beijing news shell finance (reporter luo yidan) on september 5, zhongguancun science park company announced that it would lead a new round of financing for zhipu huazhang with a pre-investment valuation of 20 billion yuan to support the technological innovation and ecological development of zhipu huazhang's domestic base large model.
it is understood that the amount of this round of financing is as high as several billion rmb, with a pre-investment valuation of 20 billion rmb. zhipu officials have not commented on the post-investment valuation and more financing information. at present, zhipu's shareholder lineup includes well-known investment institutions such as hillhouse capital, qiming venture partners, legend capital, and internet giants such as meituan, alibaba, tencent, and xiaomi. zhipu is also the first ai large-scale model company with a valuation scale exceeding 20 billion rmb, and the 20 billion rmb valuation is generally considered by the market to be the baseline for standing out from the 100-model war and entering the first echelon.
recently, zhipu ai has continuously launched new products in video generation and audio and video ai interaction. a week ago, the company just released the upgraded version of the base large model glm-4-plus. the video call function similar to gpt-4o and the video generation function similar to sora were launched in zhipu's c-end product "zhipu qingyan" within one month. at the same time, zhipu's "big model family bucket" has also iterated to the next stop of multimodality, and released a plus version that can support video and web page understanding, including the visual model glm-4v-plus that can understand videos, and the text and image model cogview-3-plus that supports image editing.
in addition to continuous technical iteration, zhipu has also accumulated some experience in commercialization. currently, zhipu's commercialization on the b-side mainly has several modes: api, cloud privatization and local privatization. according to the information disclosed by zhipu at the open day in june, its big model open platform bigmodel.cn for developers and corporate customers has more than 500,000 customers.
