to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the victory of the chinese people's war of resistance against japanese aggression and the world anti-fascist war, the 38th marco polo bridge lion dance cross-country run was held at beijing garden expo park on the morning of september 7. wei xiaodong, chairman of the beijing municipal cppcc, announced the opening of the event and fired the starting gun for the 10-kilometer cross-country run.
photo by liu pingthe event is jointly organized by the municipal cppcc, the municipal sports federation, and the fengtai district government. it has been held annually at the marco polo bridge since its inception in 1987. the event aims to commemorate the victory of the chinese people's war of resistance against japanese aggression and the world anti-fascist war, educate the general public, especially young people, on patriotism, guide the public not to forget national humiliation, revitalize china, and carry forward the great spirit of the war of resistance, while promoting national fitness activities.
this year is the first year that the "patriotic education law of the people's republic of china" was officially implemented. at the opening ceremony and along the 10km cross-country run, 5km brisk walk, and 2km parent-child run, exhibition boards commemorating the victory of the war of resistance against japanese aggression and popularizing the law were set up. in addition, as it is the tenth anniversary of the implementation of the national strategy of coordinated development of beijing, tianjin and hebei, the event also organized online activities, inviting relevant sports industry associations in tianjin and hebei to participate. the three places worked together to organize 3,000 sports enthusiasts to participate, and the offline 10km cross-country run started at the same time, completing the online check-in task of 21 red points on the "beijing-tianjin-hebei red map". the online event will last for one month.
