what is the significance and advantage of becoming a "school with examination"? hong kong dse candidates are generally divided into two types: "on-campus students" and "self-study students". "on-campus students" refer to students studying in hong kong or studying in dse schools in the mainland; "self-study students" refer to candidates who apply for dse in the mainland or repeat students in hong kong.

school-based assessment points available
according to reports, there is no difference in dse scores between in-school students and self-study students. the only difference is that self-study students do not have school-based assessment (sba) scores. school-based assessment means that hong kong secondary schools will provide their school scores to the hong kong examinations and assessment authority, which will count the students' school scores in the final dse scores. self-study students will be 100% calculated based on their dse test scores, and their school scores will not be counted.
the school-based assessment generally accounts for about 20% of the total score of the dse exam. the school’s teachers evaluate the students’ performance and the scores are ultimately converted into the dse scores, which have an important impact on the scores of dse candidates.
graduates of 2025 can apply as "on-campus students"
dongguan jinan university hong kong and macao children's school is a school for hong kong and macao children established under the background of the dual driving effects of the guangdong-hong kong-macao greater bay area and the "pilot demonstration zone". the school is registered with the guangdong provincial department of education and was jointly founded by jinan university, dongguan eaton international education group, and hong kong victoria harbour education group. it is the second school for hong kong and macao children in the country guided by a well-known domestic university. the school is run in accordance with the management model of schools for children of foreign personnel.
on august 27, dongguan jida hong kong and macao children's school officially received the school evaluation report from the hong kong council for accreditation of academic and vocational qualifications of the hong kong special administrative region. the report assessed that the school met the prerequisites for applying to become a "test-taking school" for the hong kong diploma of secondary education examination.
on august 29, dongguan jida hong kong and macao children's school officially received a letter from the education bureau of the hong kong special administrative region government headquarters, confirming that the operation of the school's hong kong curriculum secondary school department is similar to that of schools registered in hong kong, and that it can continue to apply to become a "test-taking school" for the diploma examination.
on september 4, dongguan jida hong kong and macao children's school officially received a notification letter from the hong kong examinations and assessment authority, notifying that it has decided to approve dongguan jida hong kong and macao children's school to become a "test-taking school" for the diploma examination from 2025, and to recommend hong kong/hong kong and macao children who are studying hong kong courses at dongguan jida hong kong and macao children's school to take the diploma examination, including non-practical subjects and the following practical subjects: biology, chemistry and physics. this means that the graduates of dongguan jida hong kong and macao children's school from 2025 onwards will be able to directly take the hong kong diploma of secondary education examination as "on-campus students".
