the filming locations of "hui neng prequel" are mainly concentrated in huaiji county, zhaoqing city, guangdong province, which has a deep historical connection with the sixth patriarch huineng. this place not only witnessed the spiritual practice of master huineng, but also preserved many historical relics related to zen culture. for example, liuzu temple, as one of the important spiritual practice sites of master huineng in lingnan, witnessed the transformation of huineng from a woodcutter to a zen master. the creative team revealed that the film was shot here not only to reproduce the spiritual practice of master huineng, but also to pay tribute to the inheritance and development of zen culture in lingnan.
